TWO MAIN THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY:

  • NEVER FORGET!

On this day each year we honor the ~3,000 people who tragically lost their lives during the terrorist attacks that took place on the morning of 9/11/2001.  This will forever be remembered as one of the most tragic events in U.S. history.  Despite mass chaos and destruction that morning, 343 firefighters and paramedics, 23 New York City police officers, and 37 Port Authority police officers risked and ultimately gave their lives in an effort to save the hundreds of office workers trapped within the Twin Towers.  We climb the stairs of Kenan Stadium each year to honor the sacrifice of those heroes.  This event also provides a yearly reminder of our duty to share the story of their heroism with all younger generations.

  • ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. ARE YOU READY FOR ANYTHING?

It’s scary, but this thought goes through my mind each year on this day.  I think of how extremely lucky we are to live here.  I think of my family and being prepared to keep them safe, regardless of what the future holds.  In certain unpredictable scenarios, what might ‘keeping them safe’ entail?  This is truly one of the reasons I choose to post each morning.  There are many things I can’t control, BUT I can control my level of physical fitness due to F3.  As Will Smith, Conor McGregor, and many other famous athletes/celebrities have said, “If you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready.”

EXTRA CREDIT WORKOUT (EC)

My apologies for not capturing names, but know that several PAX showed up early at 5AM on 9/11/18 to participate in EC events.  Keeping the trend consistent of honoring those who lost their lives on 9/11/01, all PAX completed 11 different exercises, each for one set of 11.  To add an extra wrinkle of difficulty, each PAX carried a coupon (25, 35, or 45 lbs.) while traveling throughout the 45-min EC workout.
