EC traditions run deep throughout Churham. For those hungry (…or foolish) enough, there are bountiful buffets of tasty pre-game pain to be had in all four corners of our region. All one needs to do is simply extricate oneself from the warm, cozy confines of the f-sack just a tad bit earlier and get thee to an AO “with benefits.” And, let me tell you, these benefits are definitely worth having on your F3 weekly speed dial.

Of course, there are your usual spontaneous pop up call outs, including EC runs, rucks, gear w/o’s, etc. But there is something oh, so very special about a fine, predictable, reliable, always on early morning pre-ME kick your booty call. Devil’s Ridge has EC pull ups. Rameses has The Pine. Falcon has the Man Maker. And now, our humble, little neck of the “Woods” has…The Jungle.

THE DEETS

Meet up, every Mon, 0500 @ The Thicket (Woods Charter playground/jungle gym) before the ME. Bring your favorite coupon, or two. Bring a friend, or two. Or twenty.

THE MISSION

Primary objective is to facilitate total body vim & vigor. Secondary objective is to facilitate ongoing training and preparedness for year round CSAUP events and challenges, including OCRs (Spartans, Mudders, Maniacs, etc), GoRuck challenges, the Murphy Challenge, etc. Tertiary objective is to provide workout & fellowship opportunities for F3 brothers that are unable to make it to regularly scheduled workouts due to work, schedule conflicts, etc. Overarching objective is fellowship, encouragement.

THE WORKOUT

Today’s menu featured 3 stations: (1) Pull, Core; (2) Swings, ‘Kins; and (3) Coupon Flutters, Carry + PT.

Station 1

10 Pull Ups

10 Hanging Knee Ups

Station 2

20 Kettle Bell Swings (Options: 25# plates, 30# ruck, 50# kettle, 60# kettle)

20 Merkins (bw or weighted)

Station 3 

30 Flutter Kicks w/ coupon OHH (Options: 20# bucket, 25# block, 40# sandbags, 60# sandbag)

Coupon carry from playground to 4 Square courts. Perform 10 squats, 10 curls, 10 overhead press with your coupon. Escort your coupon back to the start.

Repeat cycle, AMRAP.

Grizz brought the speaker out and had the tunes pumping. Strong work by all PAX. Most completed at least 3-4 cycles in 35-40 min.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Inaugural run was a big success. The site is great. Tons of great features and options at our disposal. We have access to about a mile of trail to run, pull up bars, a nice pole to climb up, a climbing wall, a decent low bar for those (including myself) who want to work on doing a muscle up, rings, easy access to the AMRAP AO with a couple large tires, etc.

Guys are encouraged to step up and lead, if they so desire. All are welcome. The plan above is the basic plan that can be done anytime. Or we can change things up. I originally had a 4th Station that included 10 burpees + climbing the pole. That could easily be added, or not. We can add spear throw, crawls and PT on the field across the street, etc.

The workout is buffet style, all you want or care to eat. Scale as needed. Listen to your body. This a total judgment free zone. We are here to support one another, help each other grow stronger and better, and push each other to meet our goals, whatever they may be.
