3 started the perfect 68 degree morning off with an EC 5k+ and 16 gathered for the ME

The Tar Heel baseball team advanced out of the Chapel Hill Regional this weekend and YHC took in his first Durham Bulls game of the season, so America’s pastime was top of mind for this morning’s workout.

Mosey down the hill across from Gate 2 and regroup at the bottom for instructions.  Total we would tackle 4 “hills” of varying distance and grade this morning.  At each hill we’d add a new exercise into the mix and ascend a total of 3 times.  So, we had a single, double, triple, and homerun hill ahead of us.

Single Hill – sprint to top 10 merkins, back down 10 merkins, sprint to top 10 merkins, back down 10 merkins, sprint to top 10 merkins and plank it out

Mosey over to baseball stadium driveway for our Double Hill – sprint up 10 merkins + 10 air squats, etc. (3 times up)

  • Double Hill was where there started to be some good-natured chatter – “I don’t remember it being so difficult to get to 2nd base”, etc.

Mosey over to hill behind Kenan (between stadium and parking deck) for our Triple Hill – sprint up 10 merkins + 10 air squats + 10 WWII’s, etc (3 times up)

  • Triple Hill was where the chatter got a little more direct – as golf cart drives by “That guy on the cart said no more hill work” / “I don’t see what this has to do with baseball” / “At least we know, there are only 4 bases”

Mosey over to a last “hill” and we got a curveball for the Home Run – the last hill is actually stairs (from Kenan FB Center up to Gate 3) – sprint up 10 merkins + 10 air squats + 10 WWII’s + 10 Burpees (3 times up)

  • The Home Run hill chatter was close to open rebellion.  “Of course it would be burpees!”  “You’ve got to be kidding me with these burpees!”  “F**king burpees”  Safe to say this was not a leisurely trot around the bases, but everyone finished strong.

Totals – 200 merkins, 150 Air Squats, 100 WWII’s, 50 Burpees and whole bunch of elevation change.

Because of time, we missed the last set of merkins/squats/WWII’s/burpees on our final ascension, but props to Uzi for holding YHC accountable to finish ’em out after COT.
