What a long strange trip it’s been. I never imagined 10 years ago when Riggs and Doogie coerced me into showing up to a workout at 4:50am in the cold, blustery gloom of November 2012. (BB here: https://f3raleigh.com/bull-city-enters-beast-mode). I got my ass kicked. I barely was able to drive home. Not sure at the time what brought me back, but I did keep posting. And posting. And posting. Over time, it became, well not easier, but more consistent. And yeah, along the way, I may have learned a veteran trick or two to reduce the pain, but I am definitely in better condition now than if I hadn’t done this. (Man, it makes you wonder what that disaster of a Floyd would look like….yeesh.) Along the way, I have made numerous friends and no foes. That is the magic of F3, I think. Bringing people with different backgrounds together, unified…against burpees (except for Cardiac, not sure what is up with that guy. He loves burpees). So thanks for all of the support, each and every one of you who read this. I’m looking forward to 10+ more years.

So anyway, on with the show…

23 PAX posted in the gloom at Tobacco Road. We were treated to find that the F3 Churham OGs, Riggs and Doogie had decided to come out of hibernation for this event. For those of you who don’t know, it was Riggs that started F3 Durham and recruited Doogie and then YHC. So welcome to the Godfather.

Mosey to the field

The THANG: The Gloom Dial. Yeah, I know I do this Q a lot, but I like it. Today’s magic number was 36. That was my age when I started F3 in 2012. It is a much better number to exercise to compared with 46.

The center of the field is designated as “Burpee Island.” Any time a PAX steps onto Burpee Island, they do 3 burpees. (12 stations x 3= 36 burpees total)

The field has 12 points. Travel (lunge walk or run) to each “number” on the clock and do the assigned exercise.

12:00- Bear crawl around the circumference of the penalty box

3:00- Jack Webb (merkin and air-press pyramid, 1, 2, 3…9, 10)

Again, this was really great experience seeing 23 PAX at a site we started 9 years ago, at times only having 1-2 PAX per week. To see the growth of the South Durham region and F3 Churham as a whole warms my heart. Thanks to all who came out and those who have made an impact along the way. The list is long but distinguished.
