QIC: Doogie and Shake It

For the second consecutive weeks there were multiple EC options for the PAX to indulge themselves on.  Cheese and Pep lead an 0600 ruck to the pull-up bars. YHC lead an 0630 interval workout on the Githens track, and was joined by Snots and Cardiac.

 

24 PAX in all would arrive to experience a Doogie and YHC co-Q.  Interestingly enough, YHC’s virgin Q was a co-Q with Doogie at TBL.  It just happened to be the morning after his first date with his current fiancee. BTW, YHC is now engaged.  Doogie would take the first 30 minutes of the workout. It felt like an hour though.

 

Warm-Up:

The Thang:

Doogie told YHC the day before that his workout was going to involve math and running.  We were going to do a shuttle run book-ended by a given exercise. The number of reps would increase following the Fibonacci Series

  • 1 burpee. Run to the 6 and back, 18 and back, 6 and back. 1 burpee
  • 1 burpee. Run to the 6 and back, 18 and back, 6 and back.  2 burpees
  • 2 burpees. Run to the 6 and back, 18 and back, 6 and back.  3 burpees.
  • 3 burpees. Run to the 6 and back, 18 and back, 6 and back.  5 burpees.
  • 5 merkins.  Run to the 6 and back, 18 and back, midfield and back.  8 merkins.
  • 8 merkins.  Run to the 6 and back, 18 and back, midfield and back.  13 merkins.
  • 13 squats.  Run to the 6 and back, 18 and back, midfield and back, 18 and back, 6 and back.  21 squats.
  • 21 squats.  Run to the 6 and back, 18 and back, midfield and back, 18 and back, 6 and back.  34 squats.

 

*Several of the PAX, mostly Floyd, had trouble following the math of the sequence.  At one point Doogie asked Floyd for a 10-count and he tried to be fancy by listing off the first 10 numbers in the fibonacci series.  Unfortunately for Floyd, it is not 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 35. Floyd even argued with us about his math before finally believing the error of his ways.

 

Next up we painted the lines of the 6 yard box, always facing the soccer players on the far half of the field.  Bear crawl forward, sideways gorilla to the right, crawl bear back, and then sideways gorilla to the left. We then painted the lines of the 18 yard box.  Lunge walk forward, sideways gorilla to the right, lunge walk backwards, and sideways gorilla to the left. Smoked. 0730 on the clock.

 

YHC took the reins and we made our way to the bus parking lot of Githens.  PAX were instructed that they would frog jump to each line of the parking lot, and complete 5 Bobby Hurleys (slap the floor on your squat and then take a jump shot).  Complete muscle failure of the legs. Avalanche crushed this.

 

We continued our journey to the Githens track.  We partnered up and did a catch me if you can. One partner dropped and does 5 burpees and then sprints to catch up with their partner who is backwards running around the track.  Once the partner is caught he drops and does 5 burpees and the other partner starts running backwards. Chester and Snots drew the short straw and got stuck with Cardiac. After about 10 minutes of this we jogged back to the field for Mary.

There was still 2 minutes on the clock, but YHC couldn’t feel his legs anymore, so he called it.
