Rocking an improv @ The Rock

March 5, 2018

WHEN: 02/26/2018
QIC: Pusher
PAX: Blistex, Buffay, Hightower, Nickelback, Nubbin, Pusher, Toast McQueen, Virgo

“Coupon fever” is spreading through the Northern Province.  YHC was excited to try my new slosh pipe and while I had carefully calculated the volume and weight of this new 35 lb “sloshing pillar of pain” I failed to consider factors such as wet conditions…  Long story longer we had an early equipment failure.  Fortunately I had scanned the exicon for ideas involving music and Nubbin had a Bulgarian bag in his trunk.  You read that correctly, visit the Northern Province (especially #the-skunk on Wednesdays) and you’ll commonly hear Pax call out, “I have a kettlebell” or “I have a 5 gallon bucket filled with 25 lbs of rock” to offer the Q.

WARM-UP

Chumbaburpee: SSH until “I get knocked down” which is the signal to burpee x 1.  Song is just over 4:30 with ~27 burpees (see Exicon).

THE THANG

Escalator – at base of steep hill – 5 air squats, sprint up, 20 merkins, run down rinse and repeat up and down by 5.

Bataan Death March (modified to 1 burpee) back to parking lot to pick up the Bulgarian bag.

At base of hill @ College Park Rd, Pax partner up.

Round 1 – 1 group does lunges x 10 each leg, passing the Bulgarian bag for weight and then continue lunges OYO while other group sprints to top of hill for 20 burpees and run back.  Plank it up until 6 returns to traffic circle.  Trade places, repeat.

Round 2 – 1 group does WWIIs, LBCs, flutter kicks, Freddie Mercury while passing the Bulgarian bag for added weight.  2nd group sprints to top of hill for 20 merkins, run back.  Plank until 6 arrives, trade places and repeat.

MARY

Bring Sally Up – When the song says “Bring Sally Up” Pax in merkin up position, and “Bring Sally Down” the Pax in merkin down position. Pax will hold the down position until the next rep. ~31 reps in 3:30 (see exicon).

COT

3rd F opportunity with Big Brothers Big Sisters led by Virgo.  See Hillsborough Slack channels for details.

Convergence Wednesday  3/7 for hard launch of Conjunction Junction in Chapel Hill to support Fish and Chips

NMS

“Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm”.

Found this label from the PVC end cap in my garage a few days after my Q.  Not sure if I should have avoided a product touted as “plumbquik”, took heed of the “for sewer and drain use only” or calculated the force exerted by 16 liters of waters traveling almost 10 feet (note torque specs).  Thoughts?
