So today was the opening day for the next 12 weeks of the triple play challenge. I signed up to Q this site because honestly it’s one of the best places with such a great group of guys. I absolutely love making the drive to this location. I was asked to do a baseball theme and so here was my best effort to do that.

We started off with the typical Warmarama- SSH, WMH (baseball style), Arm Circles, Michael Phelps, (not baseball), Manafort Good mornings with some firework claps in there since it was opening day

The thang: One of my favorite parts of baseball is the walk-up music. I asked the night before for the PAX to submit their walkup songs and prepared a playlist. After the warm-up we started with a mosey to the back of the school and stopped for some exercises and the dramatic music introductions. The way it worked is a PAX had a song and must name the number, either random or a favorite player’s number and then we completed the said number of exercises. Here is how it “played” out.

Fiddlestick chose “Nickel Sized Hail” by Sunny Ledfurd and we did 11 slow merkins for Barry Larkin

Castaway chose “I got the Feelin” by James Brown and we did 20 Burpees OYO for Frank Robinson

Floyd chose “Bring Em Out by TI”  and we did 42 squats for Jackie Robinson

Crash Cart chose  “Big Shot” by Kendrick Lamar and we did 8 Nolan Ryans on Each side for Yogi Berra, Cal Ripken Jr and Willie Sturgill

Loonie chose “Lunatic Fridge” by Red Rider and PAX did 25 plus or minus a few Squat Jumps for Barry Bonds

Count Chocula chose “The Chapel” by Ziggy, Stephen and Bob Marley and we did 29 Split Squats

Max Power couldn’t decide on his choice so I picked for him to do “Walk” by Pantera and we did 22 Wide Grip merkins in honor of Jim Palmer

Scapula picked “TNT” by ACDC and we did 18 Carolina Dry Docks for Ted Klusewski

Weed and Feed picked “Bad to the Bone” by George Thorogood and we did 12 Manmakers in honor of Wade Boggs

Knope picked “Ooh AaH” by Grits and we did 27 Makthar Njaies for Carlton Fisk

Awesome Baby picked “Game of Thrones” theme and we did 44 Johnny Dramas in honor of Hank Aaron

And then Cardiac closed out the lineup to the Tune of “Kashmir” by Led Zeppelin with 33 Merkins

We moseyed out to the field for the game of F3 baselball. We split into 4 teams with each team at a base. 1st base was Merkins, 2nd base was squats, 3rd base was LBCs and Home plate was Carolina Dry Docks. This was the beginning of the 22 season so we performed 22 at each base. Getting to and from home plate the method of travel was bear crawling and the method of travel on the infield to and from 2nd base was lunge walk. The timer was set for 9 minutes for a 9 inning game and the teams went around until the timer went off and the song ended. It ended up that “Team Cardiac” with one less person scored the most runs by touching all four bases in the alloted time.

Then it was time to play baseball Vice style. Teams 1 and 3 became the pitchers and teams 2 and 4 were batters. If the pitcher hit the batters got a hit, the pitchers had to do a burpee, however if the batter got hit by the pitch or swung and missed, the batters had to do a burpee. We rinsed and repeated roles twice and Etsy proved to be a beast hitting several homers even with a flimsy bat.

Finally we jogged back around the school up to the AO for 15 of the Vice famous 3-count dying cockroaches. You have to be there to here the grunt and groans of a left middle right- 1 until we get to the last ones. IYKYK

COT- With schools closing for the year and summer upon us, it is a time for fun and celebration and certainly we had some fun today but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the kids and school shootings that have taken place this year. Lots of families and teachers and people are hurting right now and F3 must do better and help facilitate better for all us. Schools and public places like churches and grocery stores should be safe for innocent people to visit.
