With the end of the Month (31st of May), the start of the NCAA Baseball Chapel Hill Regional, and a desire by YHC to break out the Merkin Ricky Bobby/AKA Merkin Gauntlet…we had a full Q planned.

SYITG started out strong with an unofficial record of 11 Pax for Man Makers Extra Credit – paced by MLP who’s fitness has gone to the next level.

Warm-Up

Merkin Gauntlet – broke up into two groups of 11, lined up shoulder to shoulder in plank position, then had each PAX buddy/traveling merkin one full rotation. Each Pax would start at one end of the line of planked PAX and then facing each Pax do a merkin, high 5 the Pax in front of him, then move laterally to the next and so on. The mumble chatter was strong at the end of this one!

YHC tried to recreate a baseball themed Q that debuted at HOP. The 22 Pax counted off into 11 groups of two and proceeded to the corner of the top lower parking lot near the tennis courts. YHC tried to quickly and efficiently assign the Pax to their positions and provide instructions on what exercise to do and where to go next…it took us a few rounds to get the rhythm. We were sent to each position for a baseball themed by position AMRAP circuit as follows with the “running” group serving as the timer:

1 – Pitcher – Seal Claps (meant to do Nolan Ryan’s/Robin Venturas…#QFail)
2 – Catcher – Low Squat Hold
3 – 1st Base – Alternating lunges (making the stretch at 1st to make the out)
4 – 2nd Base – Willie Mayes Hayes
5 – 3rd Base – Plank with alternating arm/opposite leg raises – to simulate 3rd baseman exhibiting range
6 – Short Stop – Burpees (all the work the Shortstop does)
7 – Left Field – High Knees – (gotta be fast to play Left Field)
8 – Center Field – Squat Jumps – Making the catch at the wall to save the home run
9 – Right Field – Merkins – gotta be strong to play right field
10 – Batter – Kettle Bell Swings
11 – Run around the parking lot

Cheers to the Falcon Pax for hanging with the theme …YHC counted 2 1/2 times through the cycle…Then we moseyed back to the top lot for…

Another Merkin Gauntlet – facing the opposite direction (the Pax that were merkin travelling to the right, traveled to the left this time, and vice versa.

Thank you for bearing with me through the explanations of the Merkin Gauntlet and the F3 Baseball…Honored to be part of this group and thanks for the opportunity to lead. We encouraged each other to take the positivity we receive in each F3 workout and bring it out to all whom we encounter.
AYE!
