This morning Bastille was jacked by camp Gladiator! If you needed on more reason to start at 5:30–there it is! I called an audible as I planned to use the part of the parking lot they were using. Fun factoid: A suicide on the basketball court is ~200yds; about the same as a half loop around the paring lot.

The bulk of today’s work was a Hero WOD named after U.S. Marine Cpl. Albert Gettings, 27, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, died on Jan. 5, 2009, while conducting counter-sniper operations in Fallujah, Iraq. Every quarter, Cpl. Gettings’ fellow Marines in Fox Company complete a special CrossFit workout in his honor as part of the Cpl. Albert P. Gettings Award ceremony. We cut in half the rep count and distance in hopes most could finish and still have some Mary.

The latter title of this BB is to recognized the number of pax posting at Bastille over the age of 50. It was more than half today. It’s an inspiration to guys working out with men 10-20 years younger!

Half a Bert

  • 25 burpees, 200yd run
  • 50 hand release merkins, 200yd run
  • 75 step back lunges, 200yd run
  • 100 squats, 200yd run
  • 75 step back lunges, 200yd run
  • 50 release merkins, 200yd run
  • 25 burpees, 200yd run
  • Pick up 6

We had enough time for Lucky Elevens starting with 1 dry dock, then lunging to half court, 10 donkey kicks, crawl bear back to the baseline.

With only a couple minutes left for Mary, there was no rest. Without dropping the feet we did box cutter, reverse box cutters, hello dolly, flutter kick.
