Having served as the Site-Q for Falcon for several years (Churham’s Premier Friday AO), #The_Falcon always has a favored place in YHC’s Heart and the opportunity to lead the workout there is always something special. When Botched gave the preview of the Q tagging YHC on Slack, YHC had completely forgotten and had about 12 hours to come with a fun concept…and as they say, necessity is the mother of invention or as Duke Ellington put it, “I don’t need time, I need a deadline.”
With the US Open Golf Championship taking place at lovely Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California, YHC thought it would be fun to bring the 2021 US Open Golf Championship to the Falcon!

The Thang
We ended up having 29 PAX and after we counted off, the PAX were instructed to remember their numbers. We would travel around the Falcon AO, which, with the aid of some imagination, was transformed into Torrey Pines. The PAX would each get a chance to hit a shot (via throwing a pretty bent throwing disc) and we would change up the mode of travel throughout the round. The PAX would finish off each hole with OYO Burpees with an increasing number of merkins for each stroke on that particular hole (5 stokes would yield the following: a single merkin burpee, double merkin burpee, triple merkin burpee, quadruple merkin burpee, quintuple merkin burpee). While the PAX (gallery) waited for each PAX to take a shot, they would be in a static hold (plank, low squat, etc.).
Cheese Splint had the honors and teed off with a solid drive on hole number one. In honor of Tiger Woods one legged victory in the 2008 U.S. Open Golf Championship the last time the championship was held at Torey Pines, our mode of travel to each “shot” would be a one-legged bear crawl. Hole 1 was a Par 5 (as most of the holes were) and we parred the first hole.
We followed on to hole 2 and continued to travel via one legged bear crawl as we parred another par 5 which yielded 5 burpees. Hole 3 was particularly harrowing, with trouble on either side of the narrow fairway with the severe dog leg right (thinking Torrey Pines Hole 4 below). The mode of travel was lunge walk and the PAX got into trouble with the ball ending up on the roof of a trailer and later getting stuck in a tree, but the heroics of Scribble, Fiddle Stick and other PAX helped us get the ball in play.
We double bogeyed Hole 3, and recovered to Par holes 4 and 5 with the mode of travel being a bear crawl. Some more clutch shots by the PAX.
We sprinted from hole 5 to the hole 6 tee box and Crawl Beared the last hole finishing with a dramatic “putt” by Cheese Splint to save Par, captured and expertly edited by Castaway:
