The North Durham PAX have kicked off Co-Q month at Hurricanrana – 5 Wednesdays – 10 Q’s – Twice the work. The kickoff began with a cardio and legs focused beatdown led by Scrooge McDuck and Tater Tot.
Scrooge kicked things off:
YHC could tell from my first steps out the door this AM it was going to be a rough one. Despite the muggy conditions, an excellent turnout was anxiously awaiting their beat down. Time to give the crowd what they want.
Warm up:
SSH × 20
GM × 10
LBAC × 15
RLBAC × 15
Thang:
Knowing we were in for a world of pain with legs later on, YHC figured the only thing worst than that would be for everything else to be hurting. So that’s what we did.
PAX broke into groups of 3 (with a couple of 4 groups). And an arm intense DORA of sorts came to life.
Station 1, one person from each group would start with merkins, going up to 100 as a group. Person 2 would run the half lap to meet up with person 3 at the next station doing 100× dips on the rail.
After some brief confusion on who was in which group and where to start, we were underway!
With the combination of the humidity being as high as it was, YHC’s 0530 brain, and the PAX wanting to be finished with this death march ASAP, YHC quickly realized my counts were WAY to low for the likes of them.
As each group began to finish a station, BOOM! 75 × burpees station 1, BOOM! 50× erkins and derkins. And another BOOM! 100 × rockette dips for station 2.
The groans that fell upon the PAX almost made it worth it. Little did they know the real hurt was about to take place.
Tater Tot’s half:
After enough punishment had been handed out by Scrooge, YHC (Tater Tot) took over and we were off to work some legs now that we were winded.
Line up for a Ricky Bobby from the front lot to the back bus lot via the back gravel road. A lot of speed levels represented which made for a good Indian Run, Chowdah and YHC were the front two in line to start us off and last two to make it up the line as we finished the run. Perfect distance!
PAX were ordered into the Cage. Some might call it a basketball court blacktop, but YHC sees a 4-sided fenced in space of doom. Partner up.
PAX heads to the south side of the cage.
Partner 1 runs to the other end, does 5 jump squats, and lunge walks back. Partner 2 meanwhile does AMRAP Pistol Squats using the fence for support.
After two rounds, we switched travel from lunges to bunny hops.
After two more rounds all PAX regrouped on the south end and begun a leg circuit –
20 Johnny Drama’s in cadence
25 slow Flutters in cadence
15 Johnny Drama’s in cadence
20 Prisoner Squats in cadence
15 slow Flutters in cadence
10 Johnny Drama’s in cadence
10 Prisoner Squats in cadence
Look at the time! Gotta run!
PAX mosey’d back to the front and got in some Mary.
Mary –
20 Russian Hammers for our traveling friend Roach!
20 low and slow Freddie Mercury’s. Buffay led these at Duck and Weave last Friday and they were killer. Focusing on form was huge.
CoT-
Count off – 17 PAX and an early exit from Chubbs for a stupid-early meeting, but when a client says 6:30 AM, you get there!
Name-a-rama and Announcements –
  1. Coco Coco Coco Coco Coco Coco Coco Coco Coco Coco Coco Coco Coco Coco Coco Coco
  2. Happy was already given grief for being our new shirt Q.
  3. Rumblings and planning for a Riverside High School site in the Fall. Interested? Lets make it happen!
YHC Prayed us out.
Co-Q month continues next week! Soda Popinski will throw his best stuff at us for half a workout and then we have to deal with Shake It’s FIRST EVER Hurricanrana Q now that he’s officially in North Durham!
