September 3, 2021

WHEN: 09/03/2021
QIC: Cosmo
PAX: Wreck It Ralph, Scapula, Cherry Baked, Scurvy, Jellystone, Dry Rub, Fiddlestick, Red Tape, Llama Llama, Botched, OPEC, Max Power, Crash Cart, Crimson, Beebe, Eurozone, Yurt, Grandpa Ninja, Prancing Horse, Count Chocula, Boucher, Jingle Vader, Lap Lane, Misery

YHC billed this as an antidote to Week 0 of IPC, which meant next to no running or merkins. Also billed as an antidote to poor Sweatervest’s musical taste. This was in reference to an MLP Q at The Falcon a while back when Sweatervest requested Dave Matthews Band station as the soundtrack for the workout. Through no fault of his own, Spotify or Pandora or whatever it was chose some really lousy Dave and Dave-adjacent tunes, so we (OK, I) gave Sweatervest a little grief. He did not show up for today’s workout, so perhaps his feelings were hurt. Come back to Ike, Sweatervest!

Botched got in solo EC mapmakers then 25 gathered in the gloom.

Brief standard warmup that included 10 slow Merkins (hair of the dog for those of us who did Week 0 at Tobacco Road yesterday), then we moseyed to the blocks and picked a spot in the circle. PAX advised we’d be there for the duration.

YHC had a speaker and a whiteboard ready to lay out the alternating exercises we would perform to the strains of the most crowd-pleasing rock band of all time, Guns N Roses, from the most crowd-pleasing rock album of all time, Appetite for Destruction. No formal rest in between songs, just kept rolling. Everyone was advised to go at their own pace and rest when needed.

Went like this

  • Welcome to the Jungle – 20 chest press and 20 WWII (with block if you so chose) – 4:33
  • It’s So Easy – 10 aussie burpees (no pushup) and 20 squats (block optional) – 3:23
  • Nighttrain – 15 dry docks and 15 jump squats – 4:28
  • Mr. Brownstone – 5 blockees and 20 rows 3:49
  • Paradise city – 20 OHP and 20 curls 6:46
  • Sweet child of mine – 10 squat thrust and 10 swings – 6 minutes
  • Patience – Mosey back for a little yoga cooldown. Song ended right at 6:15.

COT

Fiddlestick gave props to Botched for being a motivating workout partner. Beebe announced regular prayer at Kings Park International Church at 0700 on Fridays. We offered prayers for Jingle Vader, downrange from New Orleans, and everyone affected by Ida. YHC took us out.

MOLESKIN

Today was fun. PAX got out what they put in. Mumblechatter was high but also heard a lot of huffing and puffing and saw a lot of strong pushes. In conclusion, Slash rules. Aye!
