A plan will emerge

I arrived to Q with no real plan in mind, just a general desire to go explore. The nearby Chapel Hill High School is undergoing extensive renovation, and it’s just a short distance from our starting point at Conjunction Junction. YHC figured it was time to check on the progress in the gloom.

The thang:
Headlights on, our party set off onto the gloomy trails at the back of Seawell. Down the hill in the dark, with Horny Toad bravely breaking through the spider webs. A quick recon to find the trail at the bottom, and then onto the high school.

An opportunity presented itself, obvious in retrospect. Rain overnight on a construction site means mud. Retreat was never considered, so we went slip sliding on, to the tennis court with the strangely removed side fence and what looked like parking spots … guessing that parking will be at a premium for a while when term starts?

The new spots became our next opportunity. Everyone lined up, starting five lines. Run up, right defensive slide across, run back down the next line. At the end of the line, two merkins. Rinse and repeato until we run out of lines.

What goes up must come back down. Second verse, same as the first, but a little bit louder and a little bit worse. Back the way we came, same mode of travel, with a single burpee at the end of the line. The pax were synchronous and engaged. Strong work all!

Our exploration led us across more mud, leading to another improv. Moving to the outside concrete ampitheater for box jumps x 10, planks, box jumps x 20.

To the fence, some jail breaking, then out to the street. Fellowship pace back to Smith Middle.

Next little pearl on the benches, 30 x dips, 30 x erkins, 20 x dips, 20 x erkins, 10 x dips, 10 x erkins.

Onto the parking lot for three of four corners (time was tight). Run to first corner, five burpees, run back, plank until all back. To second corner, ten merkins, back to first corner, five burpees, back to start and plank. To third corner, 15 squats with perfect form, and so on to the end. Quite a bit of running and a lot of strong work. And there was much rejoicing.
