I’d like to think you can count on me for a solid beat down. I’d also like to think that my instructions are clear, but there’s little supporting evidence of that. My instructions are clear to me, so I don’t know why they are not to everyone else. Until such a time that everyone else can improve their ability to interpret my instructions, I’ll count myself as fortunate that Big Kat posts regularly at the Vortex and clarifies my instruction for the group. Without such clarification, it quickly devolves to a session of “do what I do, not what I say.” So then… who’s actually leading this workout?

For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” Matthew 8:9

We spend our much of our lives in one hierarchical structure or another. Personally, I feel freed from hierarchy at F3. Sure the Q is tasked to lead a workout, but I have no doubt any number of men today would have stepped up this morning if I had not signed up last night. Our workouts are not dependent on any man. The beat down this morning would have been a complete train wreck without the leadership demonstrated throughout the group. From the start, men communicated the switches from running the karaoke without skipping a beat. The build-a-burpee ladder required ongoing instruction which was delivered by countless men. There are more examples of leadership from this morning, but I think you get the idea. My questions was: “who’s actually leading this workout?” My answer is: we all are.
