Well, That Escalated Quickly!

Well, after a long wedding weekend full of toasts and doughnuts, I figured no better way to start the week than with the huge punch in the existential face that is the Devils Ridge EC.  Pull up after pull up after pull up, and after watching pull up pros like Assisi and Sweatervest make it look easy, I feel even worse about myself.  Good thing Riggs was there with me.  He was almost as bad as I was today at pulling up.  Almost, but not quite.  On to Devil’s Ridge ME, where 18 PAX showed up to get busy.

We started off with an escalator by the new Wallace Wade main gate by the ticket booth.  Run a lap up the hill and back down to the gate, low planking, high planking, low squat holding until all return, then escalate!

  • 10 jump lunges, lap
  • 10 jump lunges, 10 tuck jumps, lap
  • 10 jump lunges, 10 tuck jumps, 10 jump squats, lap
  • 10 jump lunges, 10 tuck jumps, 10 jump squats, 10 burpees, lap
  • 10 jump lunges, 10 tuck jumps, 10 jump squats, 10 burpees, 10 smurf jacks, lap

Then we moseyed to the long stretch of trees that line the tailgating area outside of  Wallace Wade, next to Koskinen.

Bear crawl to next tree, 5 merkins, lunge walk to next tree, 5 squats.  Mumblechatter reached an annoying pitch so we escalated again to 10 merkins and 10 squats.  I think there are probably 30 or more trees, so you can do the math.
