YHC used to be an Eagle regular, but a change is work schedule has made it more difficult to start my week at one of Churham’s finest sites. Thankfully, the holidays allowed me to get back a couple of weeks ago and an abnormal Monday just happened to coincide with an open spot on the Q sheet, so YHC took that as a call to lead.

Many can attest that the annual Iron PAX workouts are often humbling and point out our various weaknesses. For YHC this year, they shown a bright light on my lack of regular strength training and kicked my ass with numerous cinder block workouts. So, I went out and bought a couple of cinder blocks and have committed myself to getting better in the area before next year’s Iron PAX humbles me again.

With that in mind, we needed a theme and Congress’ latest coronavirus aid package provided a tangential tie-in. Aside from the aid portion, the bill has all kinds of oddities shoe-horned into it. Some head scratching, some infuriating, definitely worth a look if you have time – but, the one YHC chose to highlight was the declassifying of all government info related to UFO’s. Various conspiracy theorists have suggested that the pyramids themselves could not possibly have been made by man and therefore aliens must be responsible. Surely, this will be in the declassified information release, so YHC figured it was a good time to please our future overlords, by honoring them with some pyramids of our own.

Basically, some challenging physical exertion, wrapped in a non-sensical theme – the true F3 experience.

Every grabbed a cinderblock or like coupon. YHC called two exercises and we alternated those starting at 1 rep and going up to 11 reps and then back down to 1. The first exercise was performed on the odds and second was performed on the evens. In between each round we took a mosey lap around the parking lot.

Round 1 – block merkins (alternating sides) & overhead press

(1 block merkin, 2 OH press, 3 block merkin, 4 OH press….11 block merkin, 10 OH press…1 block merkin) – rough start for YHC on the counting, but we got on track and grinded through

Round 2 – block swings & curls

Round 3 – bent over rows & vertical block alternating leg lifts (ab work)

Round 4 – thrusters & peter parkers
