Vengeance is Mine

January 8, 2020

WHEN: 01/08/2020
QIC: Bump Draft
PAX: Duplo, Chum, Cricket, Stinky Pete, Brotox, Stubbs, Nitro (Respect), DrPhil, Paper Jam, Link, and GTL

As Cricket has mentioned in the past, I do indeed over prepare my workouts. Generally, I plan them out weeks in advance and continue to revise up until the start of the main event. The emphasis of this workout was temptation and that’s why I chose Ella Fitzgerald’s, Get Behind Me Satan, as our warm-up song.

We performed plyo-jacks during the song and did regular merkins on the word Satan–on the chorus, which I kind of botched (I jumped in early), we did continuous pull-ups. Mostly, I’ve been concerned with my own mild temptations such as overeating, lack of focus, etc. That’s why I wanted to focus on temptation, especially since we are in the New Year and a new decade.

Following the workout, we then headed to the frozen tundra of the courtyard to do four rounds (I only had us perform three) or revolutions that mostly included crawls, running, and some kind of upper-body workout. Since there were 12 of us, I had us get into groups of three with two performing some kind of crawl or jump, while the other ran around the clubhouse. Then, once the two arrived back, all three performed an exercise.

It’s been a struggle to organize my workouts, mostly because I’m still somewhat new to both Q’ing and F3. I was inspired by Brotox’s workout at #thethicket a few weeks ago; Chum has well-organized workouts, too. Their workouts are generally tough.

I teamed up with Chum and Cricket. The workout was fierce enough that Cricket didn’t get an opportunity to talk about politics, which is his favorite chatter during a workout. In fact, I’m going to create a workout in the future dedicated to Cricket. I think that I’ll call it “Righteous Anger.” I may have one for Chum as well, but I want to wait until the holidays to do it, but I might call it “The Annual Eggnog Drop.”

Mostly, it was great to see this group of guys. DrPhil has become a regular, which is awesome. Link, whom I see often when I get to pick up my son from the bus, showed up. Nitro’s continuing to get tougher. I’m just very appreciative for the fellowship with everyone that posted.

Paper Jam is still in for some kind of punishment exercise for mentioning’s Kentucky’s slim victory over Virginia Tech in the Belk Bowl.

There were several announcements. Tuesday’s On Ice is still happening; most Q’s are wide open, especially #thebighouse #amrap #thewall #themustang #basecamp. Stinky Pete has our first Bible study meeting on 1/15 in Pittsboro, too.

Instead of offering the traditional wisdom, I prayed for the PAX. Obviously, I want us to prosper and to remain healthy. We have PAX with needs, and we need to remember that. Rambler is taking time to recover and is offering an evening workout at his home; Kosher just lost his father; Splashback’s wife is preparing to give birth soon (etc)–let’s make sure that we’re stepping up outside of the morning workouts.
