So I lied. There was no harpsichord. There was no hot stone massages. There was no Zen like meditation. But I do think we touched on some feelings. Maybe the feeling of hating burpees or elephants but we did touch some feelings. Maybe just not the type advertised…

Warmup

And 5 Burpees to stretch out a few late comers..

Although I promised a spa day to my fellow PAXs I realized on the drive there that I wouldn’t be doing them justice if we “took a day off”. I mean, you don’t get up that early just to feel relaxed. You get up that early to “Carpe Diem” before the the rest of the world has even turned over. So I decided it’d only be fitting to allow these men to sweat instead of resting, that’s why they showed up!

The Thang

After warmups we mosey through the tennis courts over to a side street that just happens to be a slight incline (ok, it was a hill). Not sure if its named yet so I’ll call it “Merkin Row”. PAX find a buddy at the bottom and perform a modified DORA. One PAX stays at bottom doing burpees while partner takes off up the hill, stops at second street light and does 10 merkins. Then returns down to relieve partner and switch. Partners were to do 100 combined burpees as well as 8 trips up with 10 merkins a piece at top for a total of 160 per group. But these PAX were so energetic that they finished all burpees early! So what better reward than additional 20 burpees per group!

After we finish up In “Merkin Row” we head back to the tennis court for some ELFS suicides. Each letter is an exercise performed at the end of each court until all courts were finished.

E- Elephants- like a Bobby Hurley but since I’m a Clemson fan I modified. Hands together, slap the floor in a squat position then raise hands straight out until above head. As you reach up extend arms as high as you can while going to tippy toes. Back down to start the next. 10 at each line, 4 end lines, you do the math.
L- Line jumps- side to side jumps over end line in cadence count x 5 at each line.
F-Flanks- while in the “bows and toes” position, lift each leg up in the air while knee is straight and back flat. Each leg 5 times in alternating fashion. Repeat each line.
S-Squats- Due to time constraints PAXs sprint full length of all courts, 25 squats then back.

Side note-

I appreciate all that came and dealing with my bad counting on the DORAS. I’ve been doing this 3 yrs and still learning how to lead but want to continue to do so as it’s how we grow. And you are a great group to grow with and I love seeing us keep getting bigger. You can’t hide great things and this thing is as great as they come. Humble and gracious to get to sweat along with all of you in the gloom. Aye!!
