The Power of 3s

June 6, 2018

WHEN: 06/06/2018
QIC: Coco
PAX: Tatertot, Crabcake, Chubbs, Green Egg, Chowdah!, Frozen Peas, FNG-Magellan, Soda Popinski, Coco

YHC squealed in on 2 tires just as the clock struck 0530.  I’d already missed the Tater-Chubbs pre-ruck, so I had some catching up to do.  The 8 PAX in the lot were ready and alerted YHC to the presence of an FNG (later named Magellan).  A quick disclaimer ensued and we rolled into warmup.

Warmup
SSH (x20 IC)
BWS (x20 IC)
LBAC (x10 IC fwd; x10 IC rev)
Overhead seal claps (x51; experiment with PsyOps)
Quick loop around the parking lot
Merkins (x10 IC)

The Thang
Given that today was my 3rd Q at #Hurricanrana this year (thanks to Tater’s #PatchChallenge), I had the number 3 heavy on my mind.  It’s become a favorite number for a variety of scientifically-proven reasons.  Things are easily remembered in 3s.  Once you cross into the crazy 4s… you can forget about it.
So – in celebratory preparation for the formal patching ceremony that was to come, we executed 3 circuits that looked like the following:

Circuit 1
Lap one: Lunge walk from the speed bump (start line) to the curve of the parking lot loop (est. 50yrds).
Sprint the rest of the way around back to the start.
10 merkins/10 burpees/10 BWS
Lap two: Bear crawl to the curve… sprint the remainder of the loop.
15 merkins/15 burpees/15 BWS
Lap three: Crawl Bear to the curve… sprint the remainder of the loop.
10 merkins/10 burpees/15 BWS

Circuit 2
Quickly divide our 9 PAX into 3 teams of 3.  Within each 3-man team:
Partner 1 sprints a loop (and acts as the timer for his teammates)
Partner 2 cycles through 5 merkins, 5 burpees, 5 BWS (AMRAP)
Partner 3 selects a coupon (sandbag, KB or weighted slam ball) & completes 10 reps, repeato
Once all partners had finished their run, we moved to the final circuit

Circuit 3
Mosey over the the kiddo drop-off lane which is nicely equipped with 5 clearly marked signs (5-1).
At each numbered sign, we cycled through:
Triple the number: WWIIs (15/12/9/6/3) – Coco
Run a full lap  around the drop-off circle
Double the number: Flutters (10/8/6/4/2) – Soda
Run a full lap around the drop-off circle
Follow the posted number: Jump-squats (5/4/3/2/1) – Tater
Run a full (final) lap around the drop-off circle

The GPS chirped at the 2mile mark just as the clock struck 0615 and we were done.

Thanks to Tater and the solid #Hurricanrana crew for hosting YHC again.
The site continues to show some new, previously hidden features and the PAX continues to grow in numbers and strength.
