The Old Switcheroo

March 28, 2022

WHEN: 03/28/2022
QIC: Bitcoin
PAX: Soda Popinski, Green Eggs, Funny Money, Fresh Prince, King LL
ME HEADCOUNT: 6

Since the Q sheets were open at both Jolly Roger and Devil’s Ridge, Shake It proposed that he and I swap Qs at each other’s site. I accepted. I hadn’t been to the Jolly Roger site since the inaugural Quarterly Report in January, and since the Q2 Report is coming up this Saturday (in Hillsborough) I couldn’t miss a chance to evangelize.

The Thang

We moseyed over to where there was a little light in order to do Five Numbered Exercises. Each PAX picked a number from 1-10, which determined the exercise. The trick was how we got from one exercise to the next. As Funny Money deduced, it was “relational.” For example, let’s say we started at Burpees (1). If someone said “2,” we moved 2 slots to No. 3 (Merkins). “5” would take us right back to burpees, because it would be 4 to WWIIs (at No. 5) and then 1 more to the top of the order (burpees). “7” would be 5 to get back to burpees and then 2 more, to No. 3 (merkins). And so on.

Here were the exercises:

  1. Burpees: OYO, 10
  2. Jump Squats, 20
  3. Merkins: On my down, 20
  4. Monkey Humpers, on my down 20-25
  5. World War IIs, on my up, 15

Then we moseyed over the the road that had light poles, but only after I had us mosey the wrong way back to StartEx. This confusion was why we ran late. Though as Soda noted, Shake It wouldn’t have made such a mistake.

Anyway, at the light poles, we learned that we are exactly 160 days until the LSU football season opener (Sept. 4 vs. Florida State). So we did 160 reps of exercises as follows: 20 merkins, run to 3rd pole and do 20 jump squats. Run back to start, 20 merkins; run to 3rd pole and do 20 jump lunges (single count). Back to start, 20 merkins, 3rd light pole, 20 jump squats. Finish up with 20 merkins, run to 3rd pole, 20 jump lunges.

We wrapped up with what I call the Wishbone, because it’s a triple option. It’s three sets of three exercises each. You start in one of the 3 of your choice, and when I say “Geaux” you switch to another one, and keep switching every time I say “Geaux.” You choose the order; you just have to switch each time, but in theory you could just keep switching between 2 of the exercises and ignore the 3rd if you don’t like it. The three trios were: 1) Merkins, jump squats, flutters. 2) Carolina dry docks, tuck jumps, Hello Dollys. 3) Burpees, jump lunges, box cutters.

We moseyed back to StartEx and were running late, so no additional Mary. King LL took us out. I appreciated the opportunity to lead!
