I was searching the interwebs for new ideas and came across a page by the Men’s Health writer Bobby Maximus where he described two of his favorite bodyweight exercise routines.  I read through the routines and liked them both.  However, each of them individually was a little lacking for the HIM of F3, so I decided we better just do both routines—hence, the Double Maximus!

Warm-Up

Mosey around the parking lot

Seal Clap x10 IC followed by Overhead Clap x10 IC

WMH x10 IC

The Thang

Routine 1: Five exercise set of merkins, squats, WWIIs, dips, lunges IC (1 lunge each leg = 1 rep).  The Maximus routine has burpees instead of dips, but I inserted dips because the second routine has plenty of burpees.  First set was 10 reps of each exercise, second set was 9 reps of each exercise, and so on until the last set of 1 rep of each exercise.

Routine 2:   This is a simple one…run a half mile, 25 burpees, run a half mile, 25 burpees, run a half mile, 25 burpees.  No time (or energy) for the last 25 burpees so those were assigned as homework.

Reverse Mountain Climbers x15 IC (plank position facing up instead of down, knees come up to the chest one at a time. try to keep your plank straight with no hip sag and stay on the heels of your feet. if you can put your whole foot on the ground your hips are sagging too much).  If you’ve never done them, I highly recommend trying them.  Give my apologies to your hamstrings.

Preparation vs Procrastination.  Last Friday, I blew off finishing a work project that wasn’t due until this Tuesday.  My calendar was open Monday morning and I knew I could finish it then.  Well Monday mornings being Monday mornings, you know they’re never going to go to plan.  After arriving at work on schedule, I had to turn around and go all the way back home to switch out car seats. I ended up not getting into the office (the second time) until an hour and a half later than planned and all my supposed free time to work on my project had disappeared and left me scrambling!  Preparation vs procrastination, it’s the difference between being a Pro and being an Amateur.  I was certainly an Amateur in this instance, but I’ll continue to strive to do better next time.  Let’s all strive to be Pros in our daily lives.  Aye!
