The Thang:

There was a callout on Slack to address a recent F3 podcast about mental health. Suffering with depression, anxiety, etc can be a large burden on someone. Our society has a stigma against mental health, such that we tend to keep those burdens to ourselves. People suffering with mental health issues like depression, and statistically unlikely to seek help. Out of the idea of helping each other carry our burdens, YHC focused the workout on carrying heavy shit and working together as a unit. Several years ago, Prancing Horse lead a Rameses workout where we did a Jacob’s Ladder on THWM while carrying a load of coupons. YHC decided to run it back.

We had just about enough coupons for everyone. YHC also instructed that one PAX would be carrying another PAX on each trip up the mountain. Anyone else without a coupon would need to backwards run up the hill. We started with 10 burpees at the top, grabbed coupons, and made our way to the yellow gate. 1 burpee at the bottom, and then bring the coupons back to the top. Between the farmer carries of kettlebells and dumbbells, and the carrying of the Spartan bucket, our forearms were getting pumped out quick. After four trips up and down, YHC told the PAX to do one round without coupons, which means we would all backwards run up the hill. We ran out of time before finishing the entire ladder.  We closed out on the 2 at the top, 9 on the bottom trip without coupons.

Mary: In Cadence

  • Box Cutters x20
  • Heels to Heaven x20

COT:

MLP said a few words addressing the podcast. He encouraged the PAX that if you are struggling say something. If you see another PAX struggling, say something. Even though none of us are mental health experts, F3 is a brotherhood and we should be willing to seek help for our burdens and help others with theirs.

Note: BB title was inspired by one of YHC’s favorite books, “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien.
