YHC, like many of you, woke up and immediately checked my cell phone for results from Tuesday’s elections. As anticipated, things were still undecided. Many Senate races are still up in the air, Congressional battles undecided, and of course still waiting for one of the Presidential candidates to hit 270. YHC decided to base the workout on three magic numbers that swing the balance of power in the federal government: 50, 218, and 270.

Warm-Up: exercises in cadence

  • SSH x51
  • LBAC x10 forward x10 reverse
  • Merkins x10
  • Squats x10

The Thang

Mosey over to the back parking lot and to the rear entrance. We split ourselves into two groups. Group 1 completed 10 single count merkins together while Group 2 held BTTW position. Then, Group 2 completed 10 single count merkins together while Group 1 held BTTW position. We did this rotation 5 times so that each group would complete 50 merkins, the number needed to have a share of control of the US Senate. YHC also had the PAX take turns leading the merkin count.

After honoring the Senate, it was time to honor the House of Representatives. A political party needs 218 seats to have control of the House. Using the same format as before, Group 1 completed 20 single count jump squats while Group 2 held a People’s Chair on the wall. Groups switched positions. We did this for 11 rounds, with the 11th round being only 18 single count jump squats. Like before, YHC had the PAX take turns leading the jump squat count.

We then took the long route to the front of the school for an extended period of Mary.

Mary:

We honored the Senate with our arms, the House with our legs, and it was time to honor the presidency with our abs. YHC explained that we would do 30 cadence count reps of 9 different exercises. This would total the 270 needed in the Electoral College for a president to win the election.

  • Flutter kicks
  • Hello Dolly
  • LBCs
  • Plank Arm Raises
  • Plank Jacks
  • Heels to Heaven
  • Freddie Mercury’s
  • Ski Abs
  • Box Cutters (YHC’s favorite)

COT:

Tater prayed for us and our country.
