Sunnyside Thanksgiving: your jellybeans are served

November 30, 2019

WHEN: 11/30/2019
QIC: Stinky Pete
PAX: Skittles, Schneebly, Psych

Introduction: Sunnyside fell on Thanksgiving weekend this year which is kind of fun. For the PA X available this weekend who could convince their M’s and 2.0’s to work out in the cold I promised hot cider-teeria (all sold out, so hot chocolateeria) following the workout, and was smarter this time in that I had PAX commit before schlepping my family to the AO. Weather warmer than anticipated this am and looked like rain was going to hold off. To the intrepid warriors of Sunnyside!

Warmup: “Cranberry pickers” (harvesters) IC x 10, SSH IC x 10, “Turkey Jacks” (smurf jacks with chicken wings) IC x 10, “Pumpkin Pies” (Electric Boogaloo’s) IC x 10, named Pumpkin Pies for no coherent reason), Turkey Merkins (Merkins counted with a “gobble”) IC x 5, “Potato Mashers” (Mountain Climbers) IC x 10.

The Thang:

Dora 1-2-3. Gather under the pavilion due to a few rain drops. Each team does 20 SSH SC, 40 Turkey Jacks SC, 60 Pumpkin Pies SC, 80 Turkey Merkins SC, 100 Potato Mashers SC. 1 team member runs a lap around the pavilion while the other/others exercise.

Turkey walk (duck walk, with turkey wings) races, kids versus adults.

Turkey tag: 1 person tags the other PAX, assigning them exercises. If the tagger yells “gravy”, do 5 Turkey Merkins; if they yell “stuffing” do 5 Burpees. We switched taggers a few times.

Perfunctory and impromptu partner carries uphill on the lawn – called Gravy Boats, since why not?

COT:

Announcements: 12/21 Churham Christmas party, followed on 12/22 by BC Christmas party. See channels for deets. Tonight is Grunge’s benefit for the Richenbourg family (F3 Chef Tell). Participate and donate, or just donate. See channel for deets.

BOM:

A wonderful quote from Albert Schweitzer, famed altruist, stolen from F3 Prancinghorse who posted on the “Mumblechatter” thread: “I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: The only ones among you who will be truly happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.” A nice sentiment for Thanksgiving…appreciate your family, but also appreciate that others who do necessarily share your blessings and seek them out for service.

Now for the hot chocolate!
