The theme for my week of Q’s has been the Healing Journey. Talked a bit about healing of the body, the mind, the soul. Had a very important discussion Wednesday, spearheaded by F3Louisville and F3Nation, addressing mental health and suicide, #F3MentalBattle. In my time with F3, I’ve had the opportunity to travel around, both locally and nationally, and fellowship with many great men. During this journey of fitness and fellowship, I have found that I have also had a great awakening, healing and strengthening in my faith and core beliefs.

The apostle Paul spoke about faith without works being dead. I believe that works without faith is also dead. Our core values and beliefs are what drive us and push us forward. In turn, when we are out working hard, striving, pushing ourselves, it often forms and refines what our core values are, as well as where we place our trust and our faith. When our core values are strong, our work reflects it and when we work hard, it shapes and strengthens our core values.

In all my time in the gloom, I have found that my personal core values always fall back on two concepts: the first is love, and the second is forgiveness. The fitness cycle seems to fall in line with these concepts. We throw a bunch of good old tough love on our bodies and it forgives us by repairing, healing, and growing stronger. At times, we make mistakes. We skip workouts. We overindulge. To come back strong, we need to love on ourselves and forgive ourselves for these minor indiscretions. It’s like when I come up to the NP to Q a workout – I come up and share my love with you all, and you all in turn forgive me for my silliness, Q fails, dumb jokes. In the end, as long as who we are at our core is strong and good, we are golden.

YHC took us out in prayer. Be good to yourselves and all those around you, brothers. Until next time, aye!
