S-K-A-T-E

March 1, 2018

WHEN: 03/01/2018
QIC: Tater Tot
PAX: Baggins, Justice, Low Tide, Knope, Funny Money, Tater Tot

Six PAX convened at ReCity in the rain to get some work in and celebrate YHC’s second anniversary with F3. It was two years ago on a rainy but warm February Monday morning that I met up with my friend Tuco at Duke to give F3 a shot after hearing about it for years from friends from Charlotte and Charleston. A guy named Coco (very handsome, great hair, incredible smile) gave me the name Tater Tot. My future best friend in the whole wide world, Riggs was there too, but I though his name was T’eo for like a month.
Great to have six PAX show up with the rain. The Bullpen is never disappointing either!
Warm up
SSH
LBAC fwd and reverse
Imp Walkers
MTN Climbers
Good Mornings
Willie Mays Hayes
Harvesters
The Thang
Run to pull-up bars
(Observation- there was one cross fitter in the gym working on deadlifts and then farmer carries. He for sure looked at us sideways with the rain coming down and the time of day out running in downtown Bull City. Always a fun time with our friends at that gym. If Riggs were here, he’d probably call him a sissy for exercising with a roof.)
Pull Ups and BTTW
5 Pull ups, 5 Dry docks
5 pull ups, 5 dry docks
BTTW, People’s Chair (regular, arms up, arms out), donkey kicks x 20

YHC made everyone share their favorite Tater Tot moment. It was a very beautiful time of fellowship, laughter, story telling, memories, and all PAX agreed that it was the best part of the workout. This should be a mandatory part of every F3 workout now – Warm Up, Thang, Celebrate Tater Tot, Mary, Circle of Trust. YHC has already emailed Dredd.
Run to MotorCo Overhang
Merkin Pyramid
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ten-count break
6, 7, 8, five-count break, 9, 10
ten-count, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6,
ten-count , 4, 3, 2 & 1, 5
YHC likes to save the 5. It makes the last round actually worth something instead of PAX just slopping out a half-assed pushup and calling it a day.
Run to Skate Park
The most favorite video game of YHC’s youth is easily Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2. (Bob Burnquist was my choice – fellow lefty) We played a game of S.K.A.T.E. much like the game and real life. You hit a series of five tricks in a row to spell out S-K-A-T-E somewhat like game of H.O.R.S.E.
S-K-A-T-E
Squats – 20 single count
Kicks – 20 cadence flutter kicks
American Hammer – 20 cadence
Tony Hawk Burpees – 180 degree jump turn x 5 OYO = 900 degrees!
Erkins – 15 single count – (we discussed the spelling of “Erkin”, “Uerkin” or “Irkin?” – YHC believes
YHC wanted to play this 3 times but we had already run out of time. Rain seems to make every exercise take a little bit longer.
Mosey back to ReCity. The run back to ReCity up Broadway is always harder than you realize. It’s a long sloping hill that you don’t notice while running out, but for sure notice when coming back.
Mary
Chinooks
Planks/Low Plank Holds
Left/right arm high
CoT
HONEY BADGER – Downtown’s Friday AO – soft launch tomorrow! Knope and Happy Gilmore are gonna get things started right!
BULL SHIRTS – yo – buy one. LAST DAY – BUY HERE! They’re going to print this weekend! Just do it. They’re so cool. Floyd said he would ceremonially put them on all PAX after completing the event. He will look you in the eyes and (I quote) “share the sacred words of people and they will enter into a new level of being.” Sounds pretty rad.
THE BULLSIGN UP HERE – it’s going to be awesome – combining all 3 F’s – service project, fitness event, and 2nd F shindig at Bull McCabe’s afterwards.

I’m thankful for F3. It’s been a good two years. Did a lot this year because of F3 – helped launch Bullpen, started Hurricanrana, did the Spartan Sprint, Rucked the ATT, became even better best friends with Riggs, did my first GoRuck Tough, started a Pathfinder training program, and Q’d a whole bunch.
Best things you can do in F3 – A Two Year Observation. These are not just my opinion but also the truth, sent to me in a dream; if you disagree, you can go Sad Clown at Planet Fitness I guess.

  1. The alarm clock still isn’t fun. It’s amazing how hard it is to STILL wake up early on a consistent basis.
  2. Show up in the rain. And the cold for that matter. You learn more and are made better when things are difficult.
  3. Failing a standard is still better than not having a standard at all.
  4. Master your local sites. Traveling to other sites to visit is good. Consistency at “your” sites is best.
  5. If you must travel, go to Baywatch in Wrightsville Beach on Saturdays. I can’t stress this enough. It’s the best site ever.
  6. Pick up the six. It’s your workout, but it’s not about you.
  7. Be best friends with Riggs. He’s my best friend and its working out great.
