Revenge of Sussudio

December 27, 2017

WHEN: 12/27/2017
QIC: Sussudio
PAX: Duplo, Boyardee, Marky Mark, Golden Pinky, Nitro, Dueling Banjos, Chum, Zook, GTL, Bright Idea

11 Pax conquered the Big House this morning in below freezing temperatures, a bone-chilling wind, and even colder, biting criticism. Right off the bat, with a mental block which translated “move” to “on me”, I opened myself up to some withering verbal blows from the PAX. Any attempt at a comeback proved futile, there was blood in the water and the sharks could smell it. Marky Mark went full Dorchester, and the rest of the Funky Bunch followed suit.

My vengeance would happen in the main event. As a former Fraternity Rush chair coupled with a natural inclination towards behavior much like the character “Ogre” from Revenge of the Nerds  I am no stranger to bro hangouts. Nothing cures what ails you like grabbing a bud and/or pal and just Buddying around. This laid the basis to today’s workout.  Like a great Buddy cop movie, the PAX partnered up for the entire show. Because we had even numbers of PAX, I was the odd man out so I was basically the disapproving captain, which frankly, I enjoyed.

The Thang:

We took off down the hill next to the BC clubhouse to tempt our fates with the scary lady that lets it be known that no one, and I mean no one, should be working out at 5:45AM. Her judging tone was averted this morning.

We partnered up (which is a recurring theme) based on whoever we were closest to, or in Dueling Banjos case, shuffled quickly away from a potential partnership with me (which is also a recurring theme).

We started at the bottom of the hill at the intersection of Endor. One partner ran up and around the hill while the other partner worked on 100 WW2’s and 40 Burpees. Partners would switch once the lap was completed.

Once we finished, one pal jumped on a bud’s back and we partner carried back up the hill. At the top of the hill, we decided we had to get back down. Switching between Bear Crawls and Crab Walks we headed down to the intersection of Endor.

We moseyed down Endor and took a right onto Tobacco Farm. Hitting the N. Serenity Hill Intersection I felt like we needed to get chummy again. The PAX Wheelbarrowed each other up the hill (while YHC was selflessly on lookout for cars). We moseyed to the green to tackle the next task at hand.

Keeping the partners together, The goal for this exercise was for one PAX to run the circle around the green while the other started working towards 200 SSH’s and 200 Merkins. Switch upon completion of the lap. While waiting for runners to finish, we banged out 7.5 WW2’s and left because time was getting tight.

We moseyed to the hill that connects N Serenity with Briar Chapel Parkway. For a finishing move, we buddy carried up the hill, which the PAX completed with no complaints. We moseyed over to the circle where the last order of business was to sprint and/or jog one lap around and meet in the middle.

COT:

Take time for family during the holidays but at the same time to echo Marky Mark a few weeks back , it’s tough to get back into F3 if you are out of it a while. Try and keep going. It’s absolutely worth it. Was a pleasure this morning.
