Return of the Dee WOD

WHEN: 06/29/2021
QIC: Splashback
PAX: Nacho Libre, Terminator, Chum, Nitro, Homegrown Berry, Zook, Hall Pass, Uncle Dad, Rebar, Brotox

The lure of the fart sack has been strong for me lately. I took over a week off from working out during my un-vacation to try and heal some nagging aches and pains and getting back into the groove has been more difficult than I’d imagined. As Dueling Banjos is fond of saying – “One way to be sure you show up is to sign up to Q” so when I saw the open slot on The Jag Q sheet for today – I grabbed it. A pre-emptive strike against that voice in my head that’s always trying to convince me that staying in bed is a better idea than getting up to go sweat with my friends. The battle will likely continue – but I won today.

I’m always down for some EC work so when Brotox proposed some killer B’s @ 5am I was in. The killer B’s are a hellish repetitive sequence of Burpees, Bear Crawls and Balls to the Wall. Brotox is the undisputed world champion of BTW – pretty sure the top of the pyramid had us up there for over 2 minutes. Insane. So after 30 minutes of Killer B’s, Homegrown Berry, Brotox and I head over to the AO where we are greeted by some new faces at The Jag! Hall Pass, Uncle Dad and Terminator joined us this morning. For Uncle Dad and Terminator this was their second F3 post after hitting up a CarPex AO yesterday. Awesome having them out with us.

THE THANG:

While thinking of what to do today I tried to think back on some of the biggest beatdowns I’ve experienced over the past year or so and I kept coming back to a Chum Q at The Wall where he led us in a WOD that absolutely slayed me. I find that often the hardest workouts are pretty simple and on paper I say to myself “That doesn’t look so bad!” but once we’re out there in the midst of it – I’m often praying for death. This was one of those. Today I brought back – the DEE WOD.

4 rounds of:

40 Squats

30 Hand Release Merkins

20 Burpees

400m run (we did the drop off loop which I am told is a bit less than 400m but – close enough…)

We took turns calling out the reps and I decided to split up the Merkins and Burpees into two sets of 15 and 10 respectively. There was some Mumble Chatter – but I couldn’t hear most of it – was trying to keep the merlot in my stomach.

MARY:

LBC IC x 30

Flutter Kicks IC x 20

COT:

Didn’t prepare anything for COT today – but pretty sure I stumbled through some words about being better men and being more present in our everyday lives. Until Next Time – AYE!
