Repetitive Use Leads To One Armed Injury

YHC messed up his shoulder over the weekend to the point that it was of little use.  What do you do when you’re the QIC and you can’t even do a single push-up without pain…make it a leg day!

Warm-Up

The usual stuff, SSH x30 IC, Harvester x10 IC, WMH x10 IC, F & R Arm Circles x10 IC, etc.

The Thang

Thang 1:

  • No room for all 17 of us on the stairs so we split into 4 groups
  • Group 1 on the stairs for Johnny Dramas x20 IC, Group 2 for slow squats x20 IC, Group 3 for Apolo Ohno x20 IC, Group 4 for Bonnie Blair x20 IC.  Rotate through until each group has had a chance at each station.
  • Run to the other side of the school

Thang 2:

  • 3-second squat holds x20
  • standard squats x20
  • squat/side-step/squat jump x20 (mumblechatter came to a screeching halt during this exercise)
  • Run to picnic tables near the playground

Thang 3:

  • No room for all 17 of us on the tables so we split into 2 groups
  • Group 1 for Step-Ups x15 IC, Group 2 for Merkins x15 IC.  Flapjack
  • Repeat 2 more times
  • Run back to the same parking lot as Thang 2

Thang 4:

  • Monkey Humpers x15 IC
  • OH Claps x15 IC
  • Monkey Humpers x15 IC
  • Seal Claps x15 IC
  • Monkey Humpers x15 IC
  • Raise the Roofs x15 IC
  • Run back to StartEx

Thang 5:

  • Lunges x10 IC
  • Side Lunges x10 IC
  • Slow Step-Back Lunges x10 IC

  • Flutter Kicks x20 IC
  • Something Else x20 IC
  • LBC x10 IC

YHC gave a quick recap of the 1st Quarterly Report held last Saturday at the site of The Jolly Roger AO and encouraged PAX to participate in upcoming Quarterly Reports in April, July, and October.

I’m trying not to let my jacked up shoulder keep me from making it out for a workout, even if it means I have to modify as necessary.  Sometimes, that’s how life is: we may not feel like we’re at full strength to tackle something, but we just need to modify as necessary to get the job done. Homegrown Berry had to split at 6am so his wife could head to work.  I knew that going in, but when he disappeared so quickly others began to speculate as to why (prevailing theory:  he had to take a dump, but with the 15 minute drive home the turtlehead would have been poking waaaay out by then).  At coffeeteria, Zook recommended the backblast title be something about HGB ‘finishing early’ and even added a comment in there about HGB ‘slipping out’.  Plenty of material to work with there, but everyone knows I’m too high brow for those kinds of jokes in a BackBlast title…
