Way back in summer and early fall of 2018, YHC was a quasi-regular at The Big Dance, an awesome site with lots of variety to offer. Then The Piranha opened in October 2018 about 1.5 miles from my house aaaand… hadn’t been back to The Big Dance since.

So it was good to revisit the old stomping grounds, though with the 0600 start it was very different than YHC remembered, what with the lack of gloom.

Kept it simple today and took advantage of TBD’s best features – nearby hills and the tennis court.

THANG

After basic warm up, moseyed to the nearest hill we could find (with help from Banana Split) and partnered up for Burpback Mountain. One partner backwards runs up the hill to the 15mph sign and runs back while the other does burpees then switch. Go til each partner set has completed 100 burpees.

Then moseyed back to tennis courts for de-escalator suicides.

Run to end of first tennis court, 20 merkins, backwards run back, then run to next tennis court, 15 merkins, backwards run back, run to third tennis court for 10 merkins, backwards run back, then to edge of far tennis court, 5 merkins, backwards run back

Then same deal with 20 jump squats, 15 jump squats, 10 jump squats, 5 jump squats. At the conclusion of this segment, Banana Split was still looking too fresh so we did 40 more jump squats.

Threw in a palate-cleansing Apple Turnover, bear crawl to midway point between the four courts, then flip to crab walk to the end, mosey back

Back to de-escalator suicides for 20 Dry docks, 15 dry docks, 10 dry docks, 5 dry docks

And ended with a little wrinkle to the suicides (odd phrase) 20 WWII and back, 15 WWII and back, then at each of the last two courts we did a plank Line of Fire of five merkins, and for the last court we did 45 WWIIs instead of 5, which got us to 0645. Moseyed back home for

YHC mentioned the discussion amongst the folks at Romper Room about whether to try going weekly. The M and 2.0 friendly workout has been getting great numbers lately in the 30s. They are currently bi-weekly and wanting to see if there is interest among other families in filling the Q sheet over the next couple of months as they decide whether to try the weekly thing. Prayers for Bell’s father-in-law Paul for peace and comfort as he deals with serious health problems. Prayers for Cool J’s sister-in-law Molly as she undergoes a procedure to see if she is cancer-free. Prayers for Handshake as he and his M put in an offer on a house, that they receive wisdom to make the right decisions.
