Extra Credit:
Tater Tot, Nickelback, Harbaugh, and YHC arrived at 0500 for some ruck EC. After a quick warm-up with a few ruck-on air squats and push-ups, we ran to the top of the parking deck. We took off the rucks and then carried them over our heads back to the bottom. As the shoulders, forearms, and hands burned, we decided to take some recovery time after every two ramps. Next, we grabbed a pair of 35 lb KB’s and rotated through carrying them up the parking deck, switching after each ramp. With 12 ramps combined up and down, we each got three carries in. This felt way too easy after the overhead carries, should have brought the 45 pounders as well.
Fish N Chips and Buffet arrived to make it 6 strong for the main event.
Main Event:
We did a pretty standard warm-up consisting of SSH, WMH, Hillbillies, Prison Squats, and LBAC.
First up, one of YHC’s favorite exercises, Paula Abdul in the parking garage. Bear crawl two spaces forward and perform 5 merkins, then crawl bear back one space and perform 5 merkins. Continue until you are at the third brick column.
Mosey over to the bottom of the first ramp. With arms official burnt out less than 10 minutes into the workout, we lunge walked the first ramp. Sprint to the top of the parking deck completing 5 burpees at the top of each ramp and at the top of the parking deck. 25 burpees check.
As many of the Gen X PAX know, Paula Abdul was not a one hit wonder, so much to everyone’s disapproval we did another Paula Abdul. This time substituting gorilla crawl in place of the bear crawl, but still 5 merkins. Huge shoutout to Buffet who straight up killed this. Probably part gorilla.
Nickelback lead us out of the parking deck with the instructions to find me a wall worthy of box jumping. He may have found us too good of a wall. It took an explosive effort to jump up the wall, so I was proud of how well we killed this next part. Pyramid workout with box jumps and dips. Start with 2 box jumps and 3 dips. Then 4 box jumps and 6 dips, always keeping a 2:3 ratio. YHC’s original goal was to get up to 20:30, but time and the height of the wall made the top of the pyramid 14 box jumps and 21 dips. If my math mastery hasn’t left me over the summer, looks like we did 98 box jumps and 147 dips.
Mosey back to the bottom of the parking deck for some medley. YHC had every member of the PAX lead an exercise.
