Oktoberfest ends on the first Sunday of October. Officially it was cancelled this year, but would normally start this weekend. In the spirit of bruderschaft, Bastille was Munchen for today.
Warmup – 20 Seite Mischen Hupfen, 10 Willy Mays Hayes, 10 Manaforts, Mosey around the Lake
The Main Event took place in the Beer Hall using the tables with some of my favorite Oompah, Polka and German Music:
- In Munchen Steht Ein Hofbrauhaus – Step ups in cadence onto the benches with an Eins, zwei, g’suffa!
- Pennsylvania Polka – 20 Gurkenzeiger with hands on the bench alternating with 20 dips to work our sausage
- 99 Luft Balloons – After this much time in a beer hall one can expect schlägerei. We prepared with practicing some brawl moves with a partner. One partner would do knee to the face while the other partner Nolan Ryan-ed.
- Danke Schon – After a fight like that, you have to request absolution, which we performed together on an 8 count.
- In Heaven there is no beer – We partnered up again with one partner surrendering into Hell and one box jumping or step-upping into Heaven.
- Du Hast – No German celebration can be complete without some Rammstein. We did sets of 10 monkey humpers, 10 merkins, 8 count break together. At first we did them at tempo, but then slowed to half time to focus on form.
- The Chicken (Hähnchen) – We did Overhead Claps for the verses and skipped around the beer hall for the refrain.
- Roll Out the Barrel – 10 Gurkenzeigers alternating with 10 dips.
Cooldown: Mosey around the lake, 20 LBCs, 20 Flutter kicks, 10 Weimaraners
COT – We ended with a thought from Norm Macdonald – “Smart man says nothing is a miracle. I say everything is.” Embrace the miracles in your life.
