Intro:

The morning kicked off with 9 PAX ready for some EC ruck action.  Coupons were present, and mumble chatter was abundant.  Awesome to see the numbers increasing for the EC ruck.

25 men posted for the ME.  As this was my bootcamp VQ, I was eager to get started.  So eager, that I failed to ask if there were any FNGs present.  After a gentle reminder from Skynrd mid-warmup, I confirmed that there were (in fact) no FNGs.

Warmup:

Side Shuffle Hop (IC x 15)

Willie Mays Hays (IC x 15)

Forward Arm Circles (SC x 15)

Reverse Arm Circles (SC x 15)

The THANG:

Mosey down Great Ridge Pkwy to the bottom of the hill.  Partner up, commence Dora 1-2-3.  (100 Merkins / 200 Air Squats / 300 LBCs) Run to the end of first block and come back while partner AMRAPs until exercise goal is reached.

Mosey to Pokeberry Park.  Split into groups of 3. (This proved to be more difficult than the actual exercises.  Note to self to count off only in a line formation, otherwise it gets chaotic quickly.)  First group bear crawls half of field to head lamp.  2nd group does 20 box jumps on the wall.  3rd group does 10 irkins / 10 dirkins on the wall.  Only rotated through once due to time constraints.

Mosey to traffic circle.  PAX forms 2 lines at narrow end of field, face-to-face, down in plank position.  Allow 1 yard in between PAX.  Last man box-jumps over the planking PAX to the head of the line, Indian Run Style.  Continue cycling until reach the top of the field and then repeat back to start.

Mary:

Freddy Mercury – (20 IC)

Dolly Flutters (21 IC) – Grunge

Reverse sit ups (30 SC) – Skynrd

WWIIs (20 SC) – Goat Cheese

BOM:

Yesterday at the Rabbit, Grunge got me thinking about the book written by the founders of F3, (“Freed to Lead” by Dredd and OBT) so I was flipping through the pages and came across the chapter that talks about Dredd’s first time leading PT in the army at Fort Benning.  It was horrific and he failed miserably.  But his instructor made him come out the next day and lead a second time.  His performance the next day was still bad, but maybe not quite as bad as the previous days’.  It took him 100 workouts to get good at it, and 9 years to master it.  My point is that mastery of anything is driven by the willingness of the man to put in the requisite number of hours to get there – not by talent alone.  F3 provides a great platform to practice your leadership skills in many forms, one of which is to Q a workout.  I encourage you to sign up to Q, if you haven’t already.  Challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone.
