We started as a band of 6 brothers. Well, 6 brothers + our trusty ruck mascot that answers to “Toby.” After morning greetings and a brief word about keeping in mind the significance of the upcoming June 6 date (a day back in 1944, when Allied Forces stormed the beaches of Normandy and kicked off the liberation of France and Europe), I decided to launch our fun fest in the most awkward way possible, the Elephant Walk.

Lined up, with rucks secured, each PAX dutifully bent over and fed one arm back through their own legs to grab hold of the hand of the brother behind him, and if applicable, took their other arm and reached forward to take hold of the hand found between the legs of the brother in front. Trunk and tails entwined, we made our way slowly…deliberately…from the AO parking lot, down the steps to the Clubhouse courtyard (no easy feat, btw) and eventually to the gate to the BC pool. Our ruck mascot found this whole spectacle rather amusing, whereas the PAX did not.

Once inside, we made our way down to the lap pool. PAX were advised to empty items from their rucks that were not waterproof/watertight. Time to get wet.

**After the first entry into the pool, our ruck mascot Toby was hell bent on joining in on the fun. Can’t say I blame him. Brother RG made a few attempts to leash Toby to a patio table, but was unsuccessful. During this time, he also assessed what was going on in the pool and surmised (accurately) that there would be more of these shenanigans to come. At this point, he “Noped the F Out.” Can’t say I blame him.

And then there were 5.

Ruck to the BC Clubhouse courtyard.

Round 1 

Ruck Bear Crawl, 10 yards or so + Ruck Squats, x20 SC

RBC, 10 yds + Ruck’kins, x20 SC

RBC, 10 yds + Ruck Mtn Climbers, x10 IC

RBC, 10 yds + Ruck Curls, x20 SC

Bear Crawl w/ Alternating Pulls (pull ruck w/ left, pull ruck with right, etc), 10 yds + Flutters with Ruck OHH, x20 IC.

Round 2 – Same as above, but 10 reps each exercise.

Post from Strava should show map. If not, oh well. We rucked 5 Miles Total. It was in and around BC, I assure you. We made a brief stop at Constellation Park to stretch out our arms and legs.

** We had two casualties during the walk portion of the program. Brother Moth had to relieve M from 2.0 duty (legit) and broke off at about mile 3.5-4. Brother ET started to sense something was amiss (also legit) as we made our final ascent back to the AO…he wisely broke off just before mile 5.

And then there were 3.

The final three stalwarts chose to see this to the end. We made our way down the steps back to the BC Clubhouse courtyard right as we hit 5 miles.
