Happy Star

I’ve had this Happy Star workout on a sticky note on my desk for months just waiting to break it out.  Today was that day.  Read below for details on the Happy Star.  Weather note: it’s summer in North Carolina, aka humid AF.

Warm-Up

We actually spent a fair amount of time warming up, including the usual stuff.

The Thang

Thang 1: Happy Star.  A modification I made based on one of the events I saw on the CrossFit 2020 finals.  We started in the main BC traffic circle.  5 Burpees, 5 Jump Squats, run a block out and back; 7 Burpees, 7 Jump Squats, run another block out and back.  Repeat two more times with 9 of each exercise and then 11 of each exercise.

Thang 2: Moseyed down to the courtyard outside the pool for some four corners.

  • Round 1: 20 dry docks, lunge walk to the next corner for 15 dry docks, lunge walk again then 10 dry docks, lunge walk one last time then 5 dry docks
  • Round 2: same story but with bear crawls and American hammers
  • Round 3: same story but with crab walks and flutter kicks

Rounds 2 and 3 served as our Mary.  Once Round 3 was complete, we moseyed back to the parking lot with only a few seconds to spare (Stinky Pete was rightly impressed by YHC’s time management skills.)

Announcements/Prayer Requests

  • Prayers for Stinky Pete’s son as he goes in for leg surgery (post-workout note: surgery went well and he’s recovering nicely)
  • Continued prayers for Rambler and he goes through multiple surgeries to implant a Deep Brain Stimulator to alleviate his Parkinson’s symptoms (post-workout note: Rambler is acquiring a nice collection of scars, YHC isn’t sure if the surgeons really need to make so many cuts or if they just enjoy doing so.)

COT

The Fourth of July holiday weekend is quickly approaching.  Have fun and be safe, especially on the roads for those that will be traveling.  Until next time, aye!

Moleskin

  • Good to see Duplo back out in the gloom recovering from his broken wrist.
  • During the workout, YHC mentioned he also has a sticky note on his desk with a Mike Tyson workout…that one’s going to be a doozy!  Haven’t been brave enough to tackle it just yet.
  • Chum’s absence was noted, but excused…Splashback kicked our butts at The Jag yesterday.
