Gym Class Hero

January 28, 2018

WHEN: 01/27/2018
QIC: Knope
PAX: Punisher, Hero Bryan James, Tarantula, Skittles, Schneebly, Blackbeard, Fiddles, Ledecky, No Money Dueling Banjos, Rambler, Stinky Pete, Knope

Since the first time YHC took my 2.1 to F3 at Sunnyside she has been excited about it every Friday.  I think it was her second visit when she started to apply the pressure for “us” to Q.  I signed up to Q, about 4 weeks out and every time F3 came up in conversation she reminded me of a new game she wanted to play that they learned in gym class.  What an easy theme for me to plan, and for “us” to Q.

The build up was awesome, she was excited about it, practiced her cadence counts, led Mom in the Sweatervest hotel workout on a snow day.  Although we cut it, she evened learned the words to “Bring Sally Up”.  We even reviewed our workout on the drive down to Brier Chapel, on a beautiful Saturday Morning.

When the PAX arrived, we circled up for warm up, and my 2.1, that started the idea of a beat down, backed out, she clammed up, she suddenly got quiet.  I realized that “our” Q, just became “my” Q.  So on that note, here’s what we did…

Warm Up

LBAC/Reverse x 10

Good Morning x 10

WMH x 10

Overhead Clap x 10

Air Squats x 10

Mountain Climber x 15

The Thang

Wheelbarrow Race, kids pair with kids, dads pair with dads.  The dads met the challenge to do a broken wheelbarrow (only one leg held).

The PAX counted off into two teams for .

Duck N’ Weave Races x 2

Bunny Hop Race

Then we got into the games,

Sharks and Minnows (Bear Crawl, Frog Hop, Duck Walk for the sharks and the minnows)

Noodle Tag, when frozen PAX could either high plank, and were unfrozen when they were crawled under, or had to low plank hold, and be jumped over every 2.0 had a chance to be “it”

Hungry Hungry Hippos, the kids partnered together, and the dads partnered together (dads were encouraged to do the broken wheelbarrow).  There were 12 tennis balls inside a circle.  Each PAX  in the wheelbarrow position had to go into the circle and grab a ball, then wheel back to outside the circle, when the balls were gone, we switched partners.

Mary

Flutter Kicks x 30

Outlaws x 10 each leg

Superman Ring of Fire, each PAX counted to 5

COT

After Name O Rama, YHC’s message was quickly overtaken, by the desire to play on the playground equipment.  The 2.0’s moseyed off.  The Dad PAX discussed upcoming CSAUPS, The Gambler on March 10 in Briar Chapel, and The Bull to be held in Durham on April 14.  Rambler gave a rundown of the 20 Mile Ruck he planned later that evening.

Moleskine

The Sunnyside AO is a great time, I highly recommend it to anyone with a 2.0 that is appropriately aged.  Thank you Briar Chapel for allowing Ledecky and I to come Q, we appreciate you hosting this AO.
