A quick joint BB from Saturday’s festivities at TBL.

Potter and Houdini, Malware’s and YHC’s 2.0s, respectively, put their name on the Romper Room Q sheet for this Saturday a while back. YHC noticed last week the TBL Q sheet was open, so grabbed it and got Malware to co-Q. A Dees-Foreman takeover!

At TBL, as we were fresh off the Hard Hitter HTL, we decided to hit a few highlights from the many PT movements to which we were subjected. 20 were along for the ride.

YHC led off with a quick warm-up, to include at least 20 penalty burpees for tardiness. Then fellowship lap to far end line. A memorable part of the HTL welcome party was the classic, on your belly, on your back, on your belly, on your back thing, punctuated with “roll! roll! roll! roll!” and then the command of “go! go! go! go!” to get up into high knees. Did this for a while. It was fun.

Moseyed to far side of field. Bearcrawled to half field, duck walked the rest of the way. Then lined up again in plank position for nonstop combos of merkins and flutter kicks, 20, 20, 15, 15, 10, 10. Backwards run back to other end of field for old-school Army PT Test. Partnered up. Pushups for two minutes, sit ups for two minutes. Standard for each was 50. Then Malware took over…

Keeping partners we performed the Will Lindsey Battle Buddy WOD, sans ruck.
100 each of the following. Malware let us do whatever order or count we wanted: squats, American Hammer IC, Merkins, Donkey Kicks.

Then Malware made all of us casualties (though we were still well enough to do Mary while waiting to be rescued) Malware showed us proper buddy drag technique and started with Pikachu, dragging him to half field. Pikachu enjoyed a miraculous recovery and joined in on the rescue effort, until all were rescued.

Then a little Mary and time for a breather. That was a lot of merkins!

Potter and Houdini had a good time plotting their Q over the phone last week, and the result was a fun and challenging workout that got lots of other 2.0s involved.

After a standard warmup we moseyed to the grass soccer field for four corners. At each corner, one kid was asked to select a 10-rep exercise while another was asked to pick the mode of travel to next corner. We got merkins, squats, WWIIs and some other fun, as well as bear crawls, frog hops and traveling burpees among the mode of travel.

We then moseyed back to the main soccer field for a game of sharks and minnows, with a wrinkle. Quick backstory for those who don’t know: a blindfolded workout was what prompted Weezer’s immortal rant “This ain’t romper room.” From whence this AO takes its name. So the boys decided to blindfold the shark while the minnows bear crawled and tried to avoid. It was…interesting.

After a couple of rounds of that, finished at the circle with five reps each of the following:
Reverse lunges,
Outlaws,
Monkey humpers,
Peter Parker,
Esome exercise that starts with E,
Reverse lunges,

Reverse lunges,
Outlaws,
Outlaws and
Monkey humpers.

See what they did there?

MOLESKIN
Can’t speak for anyone else, but YHC was good and hurt for the rest of the morning and much of the afternoon. Malware and YHC definitely were proud of our boys and the leadership they showed, not only in coming up with the workout but infusing it with the spirit of Romper Room, with lots of kid participation and sticking together the whole time. Would love to see more RR workouts strictly 2.0-led. Next generation of F3 is in good hands. Aye!
