Burpees, Squats, Lunges and Merkins Make the Day Better

August 24, 2018

WHEN: 08/24/2018
QIC: Griswold
PAX: Boyardee, Bunyan, Dive, Germ, Gomer, Nescafe, Paper Jam, Rebar, Yanni, Zook, Griswold

YHC knew that his Q was coming up at The Mustang, but not that it had crept up so fast. Fortunately a reminder came at AMRAP from Beanbag, and then the pre-blast from Zook. With the rough outline of a plan that had been on the back burner, and some inspiration from the last Q Grunge had in Carpex a plan came together quickly. The basic outline was Burpees, Squats, Lunges and Merkins make the day better, so we did a lot.

Warmup:

Slaughter Open – 10 Burpees – 9 Squats – 8 Burpees – 7 Squats – continuing to 1 squat. Then 10 Burpees. This was the point where YHC heard some rumblings about still having time to make it to The Wall.

The Thang:

Even on a cool morning lacking the 152% humidity the PAX have grown accustomed to, the slaughter open seemed to sufficiently warm everyone up, as well as plant a mild to moderate dislike for the Q amongst the PAX.

The PAX did a mosey over to the soccer field and lined up along one end line. Since YHC can sometimes lack creativity the entire goal of todays workout was to get back and forth the field.

For the first trip along the field the PAX traveled by lunge walk with some exercises worked in, it went like this:

-10 Lunge Walk steps

-10 Merkins

-15 Squats

-30 LBCs (SC)

Once to the far end of the field the only reasonable thing to do is go back! This time the travel was a Lt. Danger. A Lt. Danger is a lunge Walk each Leg, a Squat, the a Merkin. Then repeated ascending to 2, 3 etc. until the destination is reached. The PAX needed to go to the 9 for this trip.

Time was running short, but not too short to travel the field one last time. For the last trip the travel was like this:

-5 Burpees

-10 Lunge Walk steps

-15 Merkins

-20 Squats

Just enough time remained to complete the trip before heading back to the start for Mary.

Mary:

This session was slightly abbreviated due to time constraints. During the ME someone mentioned The Big House this week where Boyardee tortured everyone with a ring of fire that never seemed to end! So a ring of fire was in order. 5 Merkins per PAX.

BoM:

F3 as a group is an amazing thing, especially when it comes to growing leadership and making leaders in our communities. The Briar Chapel group is a great example of what all F3 regions should strive to be in regards to leadership. We have 9 AOs that operate in BC or within a negligible distance in a 6 day span, and they all kick ass. In less than a year we have had 3 new bootcamps started, a running AO, a Rucking AO, and a metal AO, not to mention all of the site Q handoffs that grow leaders. The Mustang had its first double digit day, and it took no time at all for Zook to grow it into that. I encourage all those that do lead now to take that leadership in F3 and expand it to other areas of your life, be it with family, in the community, and also to help cultivate and grow new leaders in F3. If you haven’t taken advantage of the opportunity to lead, the best time is right now. Check out the Jag or the Earl for opportunities to Q, they have awesome site Qs that I am sure will Co-Q or help in any way you may need.
