Black Friday Burpee Special

November 25, 2017

On Thanksgiving Day and YHC received a few Slack messages requesting a special Duck and Weave start time. The turkey was starting to settle in on the Pax and we thought it would be a nice new tradition of posting at 0700 the morning after Thanksgiving. There was a special EC ruck at the normal time and sure enough, there was a taker by Soybean for a 4 mile ruck. After the ruck, the cars started piling in and we quickly made it to double digits now that the turkey had fully digested.

The Thang

We Bear crawled over the Exchange Park Ln bridge and YHC gathered up the Pax for an announcement. Good news I told them, there is a Black Friday Special this morning- burpees! YHC placed some markers along our path but even more exciting was the great town of Hillsborough had invested into some special new markers-Christmas wreaths. Each time we reached one of these makers we would complete 5 burpees. Let the shopping begin!

Burpee Route

We started from Exchange Park Ln, north on Churton until we made it to the final wreath. We crushed approximately 100 burpees along the way and added in some bonus exercises.

Bonus (non-burpee) Special Exercises

We paused at the brick patio in front of the gallery on Churton to rock out some left/right step ups or for those feeling ambitious, some high wall jumps. We completed  10 each leg/20 total jumps.

YHC then shared with the Pax, the greatest game ever- Jeeps & Tanks. This was inspired by Cadre Heath from GoRuck. Even though we did not have rucks we still felt the burn of duck walking in a circle yelling out “Beep beep I’m a Jeep” and “Clank clank I’m a tank” until we were ready for more burpee burns.

We then Ricky Bobby’d it (Indian Run) to the Farmers market:

  • Dips 15
  • Erkins 15
  • Dip hold

YHC then explained although we were done with the pretty Christmas wreath markers in downtown, we had more cone markers. These were “hidden” along the route. Once we arrived upon them we would complete another 5 burpees. If the Pax missed the marker there would be double burpees.  Fortunately, the Pax had their eagle eyes ready to go and Virgo shouted out each cone with gusto to ensure no penalty burpees ensued. We did “mix it up” with some traveling burpees thus the approximate number of 100 as each Pax member completed around that but some leapers like Buffay may have come under thanks to their athleticism. Good for them. Time was running short so we hurried the pass on the Riverwalk back to Puebla aka Bolas Negras for some Mary.

Moleskin

Everyone was in a festive Thanksgiving mood bringing out 3 FNGs and working hard while getting into some solid mumblechatter. A nice reminder of listening to the Pax for new ideas like a late Black Friday start while still honoring the tradition of 0530 with some solid ruck fellowship time. Great attitude and hospitality demonstrated today and what makes Hillsborough a special region in the northern province of F3 Churham.

Happy Thanksgiving!
