Bag Skate (By the way, which one’s Peach?)

March 6, 2020

WHEN: 03/06/2020
QIC: Cosmo
PAX: Castaway, Bellhop, Boucher, Peach, Loonie, Botched, Bell’s, I.T., Wreck It Ralph, Pedialyte, Sonar, Yurt, Amphibious
Hint: None of these are Peach. Or Pink.

Clown-carred (sp?) over with Castaway and Bellhop, good times as always. Arrived a bit early to loosen up and shoot the breeze with Loonie while he got his kettlebell swings on. (Botched soloed on manmaker circuits, it looked like.) With Canes’ recent suckiness on the brain, asked Loonie what his hockey coaches used to do to the team after a bad performance. He introduced me to the term Bag Skate, which is essentially just wind sprints on skates. Had half a mind to take out my hockey fan frustration on the PAX with a bunch of sprints, but that hardly seemed fair. Plus, as anyone who was at The Moose yesterday can attest, Cosmo ain’t that strong a runner.

So just stuck with original plan, which Loonie kindly said toward the end was close enough to a Bag Skate for government work, so will take it.

WARM-UP
Basic stuff, then: 5 burpees and 5 merkins, 10 burpees and 10 merkins, 15 and 15, 20 and 20 for a total of 50 of each. All done before 0540! We’re warm! Let’s mosey!

THANG
-Moseyed to speed limit sign on far hill, then bear crawled to bottom.
-Intended to crab walk full straightaway, but that turned out to be too long, so modified to duck walk about halfway through.
-Crawlbear from arrows up to circle
-Partner up for Heartbreak 1,2,3: One partner backwards runs to gate at top of the hill and runs back while other partner completes exercises: 100 merkins, 200 WWIIs, 300 jump squats. Good quad burner/tailbone scraper.
(In my exhaustion, YHC several times called my partner Peach “Pink” until Bellhop corrected me. Fortunately Peach took it as a compliment. )

With help from some early finishers taking on some additional reps, we wrapped up with just enough time to mosey back to start for…

MARY
-Uzi special of 20 burpees oyo
-Five merkin plank ROF

COT
-Prayers for Bell’s father in law, who is battling an infection while also suffering from cancer
-Prayers for Bell’s brother in law and sister in law who are new parents and having a tough time right now
-Prayers for one of Loonie’s good friends who lost his mother this week unexpectedly
-Continued prayers for Cheesesplint and his family as they recover from car accident
-YHC took us out

Loved the camaraderie and toughness on display today. Strong group. An honor and a privilege as always. Aye!
