Audibles called…

September 9, 2018

WHEN: 09/08/2018
QIC: Wreckless
PAX: Paperboy, Slayer, Flenderson, Commidor, Enigma, Hopper, Quark, Mothman, Wreckless

I have had my eye on a route for awhile which I intended for The Rabbit, but with the opportunity to  lead Basecamp I thought it would fit perfect for what I wanted to do.  Closing out Friday I was confident with route picked, new coupon filled, other coupons gathered, and game plan layed out… Then my day job of being a Safety Consultant caused me to second guess the plan at 0500 with concern about potential for someone getting hurt carry a coupon on a trail in the dark… Audible 1 in motion….

Pull into parking lot at 0545 to find Paperboy wrapping up a solo EC Ruck workout… gradually seven more PAX roll in ready to depart at 0600 sharp.

Warm up:

Goodmornings x3 (Slow 10 count)

The Thang:

I ran through the game plan and reasoning behind audible call… I had three coupons available; 40/60/80# sandbags (compliments of Rambler), and through vote of silence the 80# was left behind. Those that wanted to carry would swap out every 1/2 mile… I will call out mileage. Off we go up Great Ridge gravel road towards Manns Chapel (1.2 miles).  The entire first mile I am second guessing my decision (again) to change plan… as if on cue, Slayer says it would be cool to hit that trail I initially planned on. That’s all I needed… group gathers at Manns Chapel, I clear it with group and Audible 2 is called… back to Plan A! We bang a left onto Manns Chapel – walk about 1/4 mile and turn left on Dollar – another 1/4 mile and left on Half Dollar – half mile to trail head leading back into BC.

Before we head into woods, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to get in a few Manks (courtesy of Slayer’s Basecamp one week earlier).

Ruck on:

Merkins x5 w/10 second plank

Merkins x3 w/10 second plank

Coupons are swapped and we head down the trail… 1 mile to BC parking lot.

At this point it is 7:15, logged four miles, and gave fist bumps to 5 departing PAX… Coupons are left, and the remaining 4 head out to grab 2 miles via a loop up by Sports Courts and back.

COT:

Didn’t have much planned on this end, but wanted to share a quick thought. For years I found myself complacent and not pushing myself… as a result, I became a lazy lump and in the worst shape I’ve ever been in.  Then we moved here… and gradually started to get outside. One F3 brother was adamant and finally got me introduced to F3… What a game changer! From that point on I have observed how others have continued to push them selves and challenge their abilities and hit their goals. I have used this as motivtion to push myself and keep outside of the comfort zone.  If I had any words of wisdom it would be to keep pushing yourself and continue to stay outside that comfort zone. You never know who may use that as motivation.
