Achieving Greatness Through Service

April 11, 2017

WHEN: 04/11/2017
QIC: Peach
PAX: Fish and chips, Harbaugh, Misery, Cheese, Beano, Mumbles, Red October, Newt, Food Lion, Walnuts, Champ, Draper, Big Cat, Foot Fault, Moore, Misery, Pi, Dean Wormer, Rebar, Peach

With our fearless leader (Assisi of course) under the weather we had to call a late night audible and improvise for today”s Holy Week Q. Theme for the day: if you want a guaranteed model for greatness focus your life on serving your fellow man. For today”s workout YHC attempted to generally keep the PAX together in a group for a service-focused workout. The challenge was to think about pushing and/or helping the guy beside you more than you think about yourself.
Started with the traditional warmup lap.
SSH x 30
WMH
Windmill
Imperial Walker
Arm circles
Mountain Climber x 20
Cadence count merkins x 20
Slow count merkins x 10
Diamond merkins (cadence count x 10)
Ok, enough merkins already…
The Thang:
Indian run one lap
Grab a partner for buddy carry to mid-field, 20 jump squats, switch and buddy carry to end, 20 jump lunges each leg. switch for buddy carry back to mid-field for 20 more jump squats, switch and buddy carry back to start for 20 more jump lunges.
The PAX were too fast on this so we did another round of buddy carry with 10 jump squats and 10 jump lunges at the switch, down and back.
Keep your partner for dora: 200 collective squats, one partner sprints the width of both fields while the other squats until you reach 200. low squat hold while you wait for all to finish.
With nothing left in the legs we headed to the playground for a quick round of pullups, inverted rows, and dips. 3 PAX at each station with pullups as the timer (15 pullups then rotate), while the rest of the group did whatever exercise the next person in line called out.
5 minutes of Mary
Ring of fire–bows and toes plank for 5 count from each person
Peach pickers (aka apple pickers) 10 cadence count
Flutter kicks 40 cadence count (YHC was almost too tired to count these… where”s Bushwood when you need him?)
25 WWII followed by a six inch hold until time expired (thank you Cheese)
Prayers: Harbaugh”s M and baby arriving tomorrow! Praying for health for mom and baby as well as celebrating this amazing blessing of life.
Also praying for continued recovery for Assisi who has been battling the flu for over a week. We hope to see in the gloom later this week.
As always I am truly thankful for this group of men and their strength, encouragement, and resolve.
