ABS and Mo’ ABS

So YHC was bouncing around a lot of ideas last night about this workout, and I had a few jotted down. But at 10 pm on Wednesday, YHC threw them all out in favor of an all-out burpee event. Perhaps one could even call it: the mother of all burpee exercises. So, YHC set out into the gloom, where 6 other PAX joined in taking on the MOAB.

Warmup:

  • 15 SSH
  • 10 WMH
  • 12 LBACs and reverse
  • 10 IW
  • 10 Merkins

(brief interlude to check in on a parked car that was sitting outside the AO.)

The Thang:

Phase 1: I saw the description for the “abyss merkin” on the Exicon, and wanted to give it a shot. So we started our morning with an ABS circuit: 3 sets (5x each, 10x each, then 15x each) of:

  • Abyss Merkins
  • Burpees
  • Squats

Phase 2: Short mosey around the block to stretch our legs some more. We waved as we jogged past the pullup bar. Another day, fellas. Arrived to the bottom of the footpath to start the MOAB. We divided the path into 4 stations for the following exercises:

  • 1x Manmaker
  • 2x Overhead Claps (cadence count)
  • 3x (true) Americans
  • 4x Burpees

Each time around you increased by one multiple (so then 2 manmakers, 4 overhead claps, and so forth) until you finished 20 burpees. Short mosey back to the AO, no parked car in sight. Total burpee count from the morning: 5+10+15+4+8+12+16+20 = 90. Not bad. If you count the manmakers we broke 100.

  • 10x mystery partner ab workout (one PAX lays down, the other stands over him. PAX then does raises legs together and the PAX standing over pushes them back to the ground. Opening up the floor for name suggestions).

Prayers for the guys doing GoRuck in NY and Blue Ridge Relay, and for those grey days that leave us wondering. Prayers for YHC’s friend Jonathan and his wedding this weekend, and for clarity in YHC’s life.
