The Thang
Worked through four sets of 13 exercises for the full 52. Each round the PAX chose a different exercise for each suit, while maintaining the theme of Hearts=cardio, Diamonds=some type of merkin, Spades=some type of squat, Clubs=something that hits you over the head. We used rummy values: value for number cards, 10 for face cards, 15 for aces.
Set 1: Hearts=SSH (cadence count), Diamonds=merkins, Spades=bodyweight squat, Clubs=burpees
Cards dealt were AS, 7D, QD, 5D, KD, 2D, 4C, AC, 10H, 2H, AD, 3C, 3S
That works out to 18 squats, 49 merkins, 22 burpees, and 12 SSH (cadence count).
Set 2: Hearts=mountain climbers (cadence count), Diamonds=hand-release merkins, Spades=half squats/stutter squats, Clubs=True Americans (burpee with a plank jack)
Cards dealt were 5C, 8D, 7S, 5H, QH, 4H, 3D, 9C, 10S, JS, QS, KS, 8H (I swear, I shuffled the optimum number of times)
That works out to 14 True Americans, 11 hand-release merkins, 47 half squats/stutter squats, and 27 mountain climbers (cadence count).
Set 3: Hearts=Freddy Mercurys (cadence count), Diamonds=hand-clap merkins, Spades=Air Dramas, Clubs=10-count True Americans (burpee with plank jack and shoulder taps)
Cards dealt were 6D, 6S, 6C, 7C, 4S, 8C, 9D, 10C, JH, 9S, 10D, 5S, JC
That works out to 25 hand-clap merkins, 24 Air Dramas, 41 10-count True Americans, and 10 Freddy Mercurys.
Set 4: Hearts=tuck jumps, Diamonds=wide-grip merkins, Spades=jump squats, Clubs=Triple Word Score LBCs (cadence count to three times the card value)
Cards dealt were 6H, 4D, AH, JD, QC, 9H, KC, 2S, 3H, 7H, 8S, 2C, KH
That works out to 50 tuck jumps, 14 wide-grip merkins, 10 jump squats, 36 LBCs, and 10 heels to heaven (we swapped those in for the King of Clubs).
