YHC’s first Vortex Q. Nothing fancy, just wanted to keep the PAX moving.
EC: 4 PAX (Red October, Harbaugh, Dean Wormer, and YHC) rucked down the street and back to get a bit warmed up and share in some fellowship.
The ME, Warmup: A lap around the field, SSH, a bit of stretching, slow squats, slow merkins, and WMH.
Phase 1: The PAX congregated at one corner of the field, bear crawled the short side, ran the long side, and SSH’d until all PAX caught up. Repeat to get back to where we started. Then, broad jump the short sides, run the long sides, with the same SSH pauses for everyone to catch up. Finally, backward run the short sides, run Classic(TM) the long sides.
Phase 2: Abbreviated Jacob’s ladder (7), close to the ground. PAX lined up on the edge of the field, 1 squat jump, then bear crawl to the 18 yard line for 6 merkins, and crawl bear back to start for 2 squat jumps, etc… Assisi blew this one out of the water, but the rest of the PAX finished at almost exactly the same time. YHC thought that was pretty cool.
Phase 3: Some AMRAP, 1 minute burpees, 1 minute flutter kicks, 1 minute plank (high, low, etc. as YHC called). Two rounds with 20 seconds rest in between each exercise.
Mary: Wasn’t much time, so just some standard WWIIs which YHC quickly bored of so then slow WWIIs.
COT: LoPair had surgery, so far so good. Prayers for swift recovery. Red October’s job search is starting to bear fruit. Prayers of thanksgiving and prayers for continued progress. YHC’s brother voluntarily committed himself last Friday morning due to a mental health crisis. Prayers for his recovery and that he will get the help he needs.
It takes courage to offer help, and even more courage to ask for it. Trite though that may sound, I never fail to relearn this every time I find myself struggling at something alone. F3 is a place to cultivate courage with people who support you and care about what happens to you. Don’t miss out on your chance to practice some courage. Aye.
Also, come out to Nightshift’s Q at The Falcon. Gotta get some good Chapel Hill representation.
