A Brick/Boucher Beatdown at Tobacco Road

July 20, 2018

WHEN: 07/19/2018
QIC: Brick/Boucher
PAX: 16 Seed, Awesome Baby!, Cake, Cosmo, Falwell, Floyd, Letter, OPEC, Pikachu, Puffer,  T’eo, Weed ‘n Feed

YHC and Brick had been discussing a potential Q swap for Tobacco Road.  YHC has been feeling inspired by his fellow Churham Pax to get some Qs in and he’s headed out west for a week on Saturday.  YHC inadvertently went back to back Qs at HoP then Tobacco Road.  YHC and Brick’s communication challenges continued into the wee hours of Tobacco Road Eve, and agreed on a Co-Q.

Brick got us started promptly at 5:30 with the warm up:

After a count off that yielded 13, we started with:

Warm up
SSH IC x 20
Arm circles Regular, Big, forward and backward
Merkins
Imperial Walker
5 burpees OYO
Willie Mays Hayes (Slow) IC x 10
Overhead Claps IC x 20
The Thang
We then moseyed to the big field turf field where Brick directed us to spread out along the end line as OPEC joined us to number 14.  Brick indicated he recalled this exercise that Peach did at Vortex a few weeks back – “belching or belches.”  The Pax started out on their ones, then when Brick said go, we sprinted to the 18 (top of the soccer penalty box) and did ten merkins, then plank, then when directed sprint to mid-field did body weight squats, then to the opposite 18 (soccer penalty box), 10 Carolina Dry Docks, and then to the endline where we did 10 burpees.  After 2 slow 10 counts, Brick had as repeato on the way back, with a solid bear crawl to cover the last 18 to the end line.
Brick handed over the Q to YHC and we counted off into two sets of 7 and lined up in order of number for a tempo run down the ATT, toward Floyd’s Favorite Eagle Scout Project – the pull up bars on the ATT across Scott King.
We ran to the intersection, then planked….then once reunited safely across the street, we did an all you got sprint the last 30 yards to the toys.
Once there, YHC indicated his dissatisfaction with his current pull up stamina, and to attempt to remedy that state of affairs, created a circuit that the Pax rotated through in pairs.  First station was 10 pull ups which served as the timer, with the following exercises being AMRAP until you were pushed by the group doing pull ups – durkins, followed by leg lifts (abs) on the inverted ab deck, then Johnny Dramas on the railroad ties, followed by tuck jumps, Carolina Dry Docks, then flutter kicks and repeato.

We got through three rotations, with a slight variation on the last rotation – AMRAP pullups.  YHC was doing derkins, kept eyeing Te’o who was doing AMRAP pullups…and YHC think he did 50 on the last rotation.

We then recovery moseyed back to the cross walk, tempo ran it back to the building and when YHC arrived, everyone was in a solid plank so for a quick

It’s been great to see such a strong crew coming out to Tobacco Road.  Since Floyd threw down the guilt gauntlet, numbers have been well over double digits and it’s been fun to see a more regular Tobacco Road Q.  It was great to see Cake from Roanoke (Regards to Dunphy) a second day in a row – as he rocked his long sleeve shirt in the Humid, Summer Gloom.
There was talk of a feting of Coco via CocoPolooza2018 at He’s Not Here on Wednesday, August 1st….someone mentioned Burpees on the Bar?  Please come out to celebrate the F3 Life and Churham Departure of our Coco.
Tuco is moving east to Raleigh, and his last AO will be the Falcon on 7/20…followed by a coffeteria at Bean Traders on 54.
Brick took us out with inspiring words of gratitude and positivity.
