What better way to celebrate President’s Day than to get a refresher on the man for which the holiday was created? A group of 11 Pax on a cold, wet morning tackled a hill and some trivia about the country’s founding father, but first paid tribute to F3 Churham’s founding father.

Willie Mays Hayes, Arm Circles, Hamstring Stretch

THE THANG

Mosey to a hill (that has been used in past EC sessions because of it’s brutality) for Jacob’s Ladder. Slow squats at the bottom, Perkins (shout out to Adolphus) at the top. 9-1, 8-2, 7-3, 6-4, 5-5, 4-6, 3-7 …

Mosey back to AO for President’s Day Trivia. After 10 walking lunges, a PAX member was called on to quickly answer a question about George Washington. If he got it wrong, the group did five burpees. Then back to the walking lunges and repeat. After about a dozen questions, and a full walking lunge lap of the AO (with many a burpee en route), the day’s lesson was complete.

History is important. It provides perspective, it teaches lessons, and if the mistakes of the past are forgotten we are doomed to repeat them. In the case of George Washington, he was more than just the symbol we know today. Yes, he was the commander of the colonial army, and the first president of the United States. But he also set term limits, preached freedom of religion, freed his slaves in his will. He is THE founding father of this country and made decisions that played a huge role in shaping the US ever since.
