4/20 is a fascinating date…some terrible tragedies have occurred on April 20th (the 110th day of the year on non-leap years).  Adolph Hitler’s birth, Columbine Massacre, Deepwater Horizon Disaster.  YHC wanted to lead an uplifting Q on a day with such a sordid history that would include lots of 4/20s and a 110.

 

7 Pax did ManMaker extra credit (BEASTS!) and then three more Pax, including YHC, showed up right before the start time and warmed up on a fellowship paced jog to the bottom of the parking lot near the entrance to the track.

The Thang:

YHC explained that some “good” things happened on 4/20 including the opening of Fenway Park in 1912 and Harriet Tubman is credited with starting the Underground Railroad on April 20th 1853.  With that context, we did 4 sets of 4 exercises with 20 reps each in the following rotation:

Squat Jumps x 20

Carolina Dry Docks x 20

Tuck Jumps x 20

Donkey Kicks x 20

70% effort run up the hill (Green Monster) around the circle and back to the bottom of the hill.

The first rotation wasn’t too bad…but as expected, things got progressively more challenging.

The next exercise was a tribute to the Underground Railroad.

We partnered up and did two laps up the hill (Green Monster).  The first lap was a partner carry rotating as necessary.  The first Pax to finish got the reward of holding the People’s Chair until all Pax returned and YHC lead a count off of 20.

The next mode of travel was the wheelbarrow, rotating partners as necessary.  The initial plan was to wheelbarrow the entire loop, but as we approached the halfway point, YHC wisely audibled and we moseyed (upright) back for one more exercise.

Given that April 20th is the 110th day of the year, YHC wanted to do 110 reps of one exercise…Given we were trying to get high, we did 110 single count shoulder air presses.

 

We then moseyed back to the parking lot and completed four sets of 20 exercises for Mary.

Prayer Request – Prayers to those still affected by the tragedies associated with 4/20.  Prayers to Misery’s wife as she continues a successful recovery from hip surgery.  Also prayers to all those supporting and participating in the Tar Heel 10-Miler – particularly the Speed for Need Crew!F3 Churham Speed for Need crew.
