12 Days Of Grunge-Mas

December 15, 2018

WHEN: 12/15/2018
QIC: Grunge
PAX: Cardiac, Big Kat (Respect!), Bitcoin, Malware (Mary Only), Grunge

Last night at supper, a piece of fish fell off YHC’s fork, and I kid you not, fell in such a manner as to strike my phone screen so that it ended up hitting the “Buy It Now” button on a snowboard listing off EBay. No, this is not some story I made up to explain a spontaneous and random purchase to my M. This is 100% a true story. Thankfully, the seller, based on Montreal, cordially agreed to cancel the purchase and refund me my money when I explained to him my fish tale. This crazy, twisted event nearly cost me $599 U.S. Moral of the story is be wary of fish fingers when you are browsing the web while enjoying your evening meal. Actually, the moral of the story is, put your d*mn phone down and pay more attention to what is going on around you.

TBL. Churham AO # 36 of 37 on YHC’s Q list.

INTRO

Weather forecast called for rain most of the night, but indicated that there would be a nice break between 0700-0800. That was a d*mn lie.

Made my way to TBL fully expecting a solo post, but was happy to see Cardiac waiting in the parking lot upon arrival. Soon, Big Kat and Bitcoin joined. With the pouring rain, I thought that the basketball court would provide a more hospitable environment for this morning’s workout. Yeah, no.

Also, considered changing up my game plan given circumstances. But then decided to not to.

0700. Giddy-yup.

Mosey over to the basketball court. Circle up. Court was flooded. Nice.

MAIN EVENT

Introduced the workout for this morning. We are gonna do my take on the 12 Days of Christmas workout. I actually have two. One is more Cardio oriented, the second leans towards Strength Training. When passing the TBL rock pile, I saw that it was pretty much fully submerged. As such, I opted to go with the Cardio version today (Strength Train version to take place at my final Q stop @ The Mustang next Friday).

Here’s what went down:

Y’all know the drill. Start with the 1st Day of Christmas…then next round, 2nd Day then 1st Day…then 3rd Day, 2nd Day, 1st Day…yada yada, keep stacking until you end with the full 12 Day calendar of glory. Not exactly sure what I was thinking when I stacked these exercises, but after this workout, I decided to move my long run to tomorrow.

  • On the 1st Day of Christmas: Bear Crawl the length of the basketball court (Total: 12x)
  • On the 2nd Day of Christmas: Run 2 lengths of the basketball court (Total: 22x)
  • On the 3rd Day of Christmas: WWIIs, x10 SC (Total: 100x)
  • On the 4th Day of Christmas: Merkins, x10 SC (Total: 90x)
  • On the 5th Day of Christmas: Burpees! x10 SC (Total: 80x)
  • On the 6th Day of Christmas: Jump Lunges, x10 (1-2) (Total: 70x per leg)
  • On the 7th Day of Christmas: 4 Count Flutter Kicks, x10 IC (Total: 60x 4ct)
  • On the 8th Day of Christmas: Diamond Merkins, x10 SC (Total: 50x)
  • On the 9th Day of Christmas: Glute Bridges, x10 SC (Total: 40x)
  • On the 10th Day of Christmas: 8 Count Body Builders (Burpee with Plank Jack after Merkin), x10 SC (Total: 30x)
  • On the 11th Day of Christmas: BW Thrusters, x10 SC (Total: 20x)
  • On the 12th Day of Christmas: Spider Jumps (Burpee with 4 XL Mtn Climbers), x10 SC (Total: 10x)

So, with the basketball court flooded in about an inch of water, the bear crawl round soaked the gloves, the WWII round soaked our entire backsides, and the merkin/burpee round soaked the entire frontside. By the end of this mess, it looked like we all jumped into a lake.

After the warm up round, I carefully considered the repercussions of continuing on with the workout at the court and considered calling an audible, but chose not to ‘coz, you know, choose the harder path, stay alpha AF, and be committed.

Big t-claps to my three brothers for crushing this workout in the sloppy mess. The entire time, it was total positivity, not one complaint uttered. I came up with this workout in a stupor and wrote it all down on a Weinke placed inside a waterproof holder…then placed it at the end of the court, in possibly the only spot that wasn’t flooded. Suffice it to say, none of it was committted to memory, so thankful to my brothers (esp Big Kat) for helping me recall each of the exercises as we made our way through it.

Final stretch…mosey back to StartEx. On the way, we ran into Malware who had come down after TBR this am to get patched (more on this later in the COT/BOM…). Just in time to join the rest of us for Mary!

Led PAX down to field (which, btw, was only slightly damp AND nice and cushy…Gah!). Circle up, on our 6.

YHC took us out in a prayer of thanks.
