07/26/2023 News – July 2023 SLT Meeting

July 27, 2023

WHEN: 07/26/2023
QIC: Knope
PAX: Bump Draft, Castaway, Dinghy, Doi, Maraschino, Mueller, Scapula
ME HEADCOUNT: 8

This month we took the SLT show on the road. Mueller was kind enough to host 8 of us at his house. Maraschino came in with an assist by bringing Chinese for everyone.

We got things rolling with a few updates. Thank you to all of the HIMS that have already contributed content for the August Newsletter, please keep it coming, especially before Friday’s deadline, which will allow Dinghy to put the content together for the August edition. We’d like to feature a monthly calendar of events in future editions. In order to do so, we need each of you that have an event planned to add it to the #calendar-request channel on Slack. Upload it there, and we’ll include it on the calendar and in the newsletter.

The region’s usage of PAX Mate has been phenomenal, and we are excited about the preliminary data we’re able to see. We don’t have much yet, but for this tool to work we need everyone to contribute. If you are a QIC, please put your backblast (or at least the PAX names) in the AO Channel by using the “/backblast”command in Slack. This will pull up a form for you to complete a backblast that includes the names of all of the PAX. AOQs, we ask that if your QIC doesn’t put together a backblast that you complete a simplified blast through the /backblast command that includes all of the PAX in attendance. By adding this info daily, it helps us have an accurate record of who is posting. That data helps us understand trends, where we have areas of growth, and most importantly who has dropped off so we can bring them back in. If you have questions about PAX Mate, please connect with Castaway.

The Churham Family Picnic is this weekend at The Farm. If you haven’t already, check out the info on the 2nd F Channel.

We have some great stuff coming your way:

August Challenge – Iron PAX Pre Game. We’ll use the month of August to encourage guys to gird their loins for the IPC in the month of September. That means finding your favorite cinder block and practicing those murder bunnies, getting back into the good burpee form with a clap at the top, and re-bookmarking the IPC challenge channel on YouTube.

September Challenge – Iron PAX (IPC). There is no doubt to anyone in our region about our 1st F prowess. Sure there are haters outside Churham, but lions care not for the opinions of sheep. Churham has had some up years and we’ve had some some down years for IPC participation. With the modifications the fellas in Greenwood now offer, it makes the IPC much more accessible to all men. The IPC is the foremost competition throughout F3 nation that brings us all together for a month of shared workouts and shared growth. IPC pushes you to get out of your comfort zone, and helps build camaraderie through shared suffering. This year, Churham’s focus is on participation. We’d like to compete for the highest participation rate in the nation. Sure some guys will go kill it, and others will not, but modify if necessary, submit that you completed it, and help show the nation the strength of Churham.

Dad Camp will be at Camp Seagull August 18-20. Currently there are about 140 total registrants, and it looks like about 42 of those are from Churham. Dad Camp is a wonderful experience for you as a Dad, and for the kiddos. We have full use of the camp, including the zip line, the blob, the pool and the fishing dock. Our region will host a potluck on Friday to get everyone together. After you register for camp, check out the Dad Camp Tab on the Epic Mega Doc to see who is coming and what they’re bringing. We also have the honor of leading the Saturday all camp workout. If you have questions about camp, please let me know.

Mark your calendars for the first SLT Town Hall meeting. We’ll transition our September 6 SLT meeting to a open forum, town hall meeting. We’ll likely start at 6:30 p.m., with a location to be announced in August.

In addition to the Family Picnic this month, the Town Hall in September, we’ve started working on the Holiday Party, with details TBD.

The SLT wrapped up the meeting with discussion on who is transitioning off the SLT in December, finding replacements, and opened discussion on strategies for the next class of SLT HIMs.

Thank you to my fellow SLT members for the continued commitment to leading our region and helping facilitate all of these excellent opportunities for all 3 Fs. Please keep up the strong numbers as we close out the Summer. Enjoy the picnic this weekend, start packing for Dad Camp, and get ready to establish Churham as the foremost region in the F3 Nation in September.

SYITG!
